The turquoise waters invite you to dive in and enjoy the many recreational activities Bear Lake has to offer year-round.
There are literally thousands of square miles of fun that include beaches, boating, fishing, watersports, hiking, snow skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, exploring, history, and so much more!

SPRINGSUMMERFALLBear Lake has over 70,000 acres of water. It’s so large you often feel like you have the lake to yourself. There are numerous boat ramps and access points for whatever fun you like best.
The shallow beaches are perfect for swimming or getting started on your paddle board, kayak, canoe, or raft. Bring plenty of sunscreen,
beach umbrellas and food because it’s easy to lose track of time and spend the entire day at the lake.
Bear Lake Valley is typically cooler than surrounding areas, which makes it perfect for summertime getaways. Even with the cooler air, the water is great for swimming and wading.
Take in the cool breezes and easy waves as you enjoy the breathtaking 360˚ views.

Whatever the adventure, remember to bring the proper gear and snacks.
And don’t forget to pick up a world-famous raspberry shake. They’re dynamite!

HISTORICBear Lake was first inhabited by Shoshone Tribes that lived in the area for hundreds of years. Its rich abundance soon attracted fur trappers and pioneers who traded with the Shoshone at the south end of the lake. Today the area is still referred to as Rendezvous Beach.
The first permanent settler of Bear Lake Valley was a crusty old one-legged mountain man named Thomas “Peg Leg” Smith. He set up trading posts in the 1840s that supplied travelers for their journey along the famous Oregon/California Trail.
