This multi-functionalunit operatesas an air conditioner,dehumidifierandfan. When operating as an air conditioner,this unit isdesignedfor spot cooling orcooling a roomno largerthan 150square feetwith a standardeight foot ceiling height.When usingthis appliance,always exercisebasic safetyprecautions.

Before installing and usingyour portableair conditionerand heater,it is importantthat you readthis owner's manualcarefully.Storethis manual in a safe place for future reference,

1. Always placethe unit on a level surface.

2. The applianceshall be installed in accordancewith nationalwiring regulation.

3. The unit must be connectedto a correctlygroundedpower supply.For your safety,this unit is groundedthrough thepowercord plugwhen connectedto a groundedwall outlet. Do not use an adapter plugor extensioncord.

4. Do not install the unit in anarea where gas leakagemayoccur andtor in an explosiveatmosphere.

5. Do not apply an insecticideor any type of flammable sprayonthe unit.

6. Confirmdrainagepiping is connected properly.

7. Do not start orstop the unit by insertingor pullingout the powerplug.

8. Do not operate withwet hands.

9. Closesupervisionis necessarywhen the unit is used nearchildren.The unit in not intendedfor use by children.

10. Do not insertanything into the air outlet. Do not obstructair inlet or outletgrills.

11. Do not expose skinor eyes directlyto cool air for a long periodof time.

12. If an abnormalodor or smokecomes out of the unit,disconnectthe unit immediatelyandcontacta qualifiedservicetechnician.(see page 14)

13. Whenopeningthe filtercover, do not touchthe metal parts in the unit's interior.

14. Do not immersethe unit inwater or any type of liquid. Do not use the unit in the immediatesurroundingsof a bath,shower,or swimmingpool,or in any other steamy,wet areas.

15. Whencleaning the unit,alwaysturn the unit offand unplugthe power cord.

16. Always inspectthe powercord for signsof damagebefore use. If the powercord is damaged,it mustbe replacedby themanufactureror a qualified servicetechnician.

17. Do not placea plant or allow a pet in the direct path of the airflowto avoid injury.

18. Do not put a stove,etc, where it would be exposedto the directairflow. It mayaffect combustion.

19. Do not sit on the unit or place anythingon it.

20. Do not disposeof the remotecontrol in fire, the batteries inside mayexplodeor leak.

21. Beforestoring, the water must be drainedfromthe unit and the filters cleaned.

LCDI POWERCORDAND PLUG

Thisair conditioner is equippedwith an LCDI (LeakageCurrentDetectionand Interruption)powercord and plug as requiredbyUS NationalElectricCode 440.65.Thiscord consistsof a lengthof shieldedflexiblecord with noterminationonthe loadside anda LCDI attachmentplugon the lineside.

The LCDI powercord and plugwill removethe supplysourcevia electricaldisconnect(circuittrip) if the nominalcurrent leakagebetweenthe cord shield and either loadconductorexceeds a predeterminedvalue.The cord will remain de-energizeduntilthedevisehas been manuallyreset.This is intendedto reducethe risk of a fire in the power cord or combustiblematerials nearby.The cord shieldsare not groundedand they must be considereda shock hazards if exposed.The cord shield must not beconnectedto ground or to any exposed metal.

The test and reset buttonson the LCDI Plugare used to check if the plug is functioningproperly.Totest:

1. Plug power cord into wall outlet2. PressTEST Button, circuitshould trip, cutting powerto the air conditioner3. Press RESETbutton for use

If a test is performedandthe indicator light remainsON,current leakagehas been detected.Do not use the air conditionerorattempt to reset the LCDIPlug. ContactSoleusAir CustomerServicefor troubleshootingrecommendations.

INSTALLATION

SELECTING THE LOCATIONPlace the unit in a flat locationwhere the air outlets are not obstructed.Place the unit at least20" (50cm)awayfrom a wall orother obstacle.

MOUNTING THE EXHAUST HOSE

Slidethe square end of the exhaustduct over the hot air outleton the backof the unit.

The exhausthose should be keptas shortand straightas possible. Preventany sharp bends in the exhaust hose,as thiswilltrap hot exhaust air.

WALL MOUNTING

The hotexhaust air canbe ventedthroughthe wall or out a window.If mountingin the wall, the heightof the hole shouldbe 16to 50 inches(40cmto 130cm).

WINDOW KIT INSTALLATIONThe window kit is designedto fit into moststandardvertical and horizontalwindows.

However,it may be necessaryto modifysomeaspectsof the installationprocessfor certainwindow types.

. Open the window or slidingdoorand adjust the lengthof the windowkit to fit the opening. Mark andcutdown a single panelof the windowkit if necessary.

. Place thewindow kit betweenthewindow andthe windowframe as

shown in the imagesto the right.Close the windowonto the windowkit to form a tight seal.

. Attach the exhaustduct adapter tothe windowkit. Tabslocatedontheadapter will lock into place securingthe adapterto the window kit.

OPERATION

Plug the power cord into a properly grounded outlet. Do not connectthe unit to an outlet that is also being used forother electrical appliances. The unit will beep after two seconds, then press the on/off button to begin operation.

COOLING

1. Pressthe ModeButtonto choosethe coolingfunction.

2. Pressthe Fan SpeedButtonto choosethe desired fan speed.

3. Pressthe Swing Buttonto select a steady airflowor oscillation.

• In order to improvecoolingefficiency,draw the curtains ina room exposedto direct sunlight.

• Do not place neara heat source.

DEHUMIDIFYING

1. Pressthe Mode Buttonto choosethe dehumidifyingfunction.

• Inthe DehumidifyingMode, thefan speed cannotbe adjusted.

• Ensure that the waterbucket is properlyplaced in the unit.

• When the unit is usedas a dehumidifieronly,do not use the exhaust duct.

• Keep the windowsand doors closedto aid in effectivelydehumidifyingthe room.

EMPTYING THE WATER BUCKET

Whenthe unit is in coolingmode,unwantedwater is extractedfromthe air. Whenthe waterbucketis full, thecompressorwill stopbut the fan will continueto run.

Toresumeoperation,empty the water bucketaccordingto the followingsteps:

1. Turnthe unit off. Do not movethe unit when the water container is full.

2. Usingthe handle,slowly removethe water bucketfrom the unit.

3. Pourout anywater accumulatedinthe bucket.

4. Washthe water bucket usingwarmwater and a mild dishwasherdetergent.

5. Allow the bucket to dry completely

6. Replacethe waterbucket in the unit.

2. Connectthe drain tube to the valve.

3. Makesure the drain tube drains downward.

4. Placea panor bucket under the drain tube to holdthe condensatewater,or let the tube draindown a gravitydrain.

MAINTENANCE

Alwaysturn off and unplugthe unit beforecleaningto avoid electricalshock.

CLEANING THE HOUSING

Wipe the surface of the unitwith a soft,damp cloth.Do not use abrasivechemicalsor detergents toclean the surface of the unit,as the unit maybecomescratchedor damaged.

Avoid directexposureto sunlightas this maychange the surface color.

CLEANING THE FILTER

Openthe air filter cover on the side of the unitandremovethe filter from the cover.

Immersethe filter gently inwarmwater with a milddetergent.Rinse thoroughlyand dry beforereplacing.

An uncleanair filter reducesair volume.The filtershould be cleanedevery twoweeks.

ENDOF SEASONSTORAGE

Tostore the unit,pleasefollow these steps:

• Turn off and unplugthe unit.

• Removethe stopper from the waterdrain pipe andallow it to draincompletely.

• Drain all condensatewater from the water bucket.

• Turnthe unit to fan mode for a couple of hours to completelydry out the inside.

• Clean the filter.

• Wrap the cord aroundthe cord hooks.

• It is recommendedthat the unit be packedin its originalcartonfor storage.

• Store in a drylocation.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Beforeseeking repairor service,please check the following:

One Year Limited Warranty

Soleus International Inc. warrants the accompanying Soleus Air MAC-8000 to be flee of detects in materialand workmanship for the applications specified in its operation instruction for a period of ONE (1) year from

the date of original retail purchase in the United States.

If the unit exhibits a detect in normal use, Soleus International Inc. will, at its option, either repair or replace it,

free of charge within a reasonable time after the unit is returned during the warranty period.

As a condition to any warranty service obligation, the consumer must present this Warranty Certificate along

with a copy of the original purchase invoice.

THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER:

1) Damage, accidental or otherwise, to the unit while in the possession of a consumer not caused by adetect in material or workmanship.

2) Damage caused by consumer misuse, tampering, or failure to follow the care and special handling

provisions in the instructions.3) Damage to the finish of the case, or other appearance parts caused by wear.

4) Damage caused by repairs or alterations of the unit by anyone other than those authorized by SoleusInternational Inc.
