3. Wiring DC Power InputsThe6-contactterminalblockconnectorontherearpanelofMGSD-10080F isusedfor two DC redundant powers input. Please follow the steps below to insert thepower wire.

1.Insert positive / negative DC power wires into the contacts 1 and 2 for DCPOWER1,or5and6forDCPOWER2.

4. Terminal SetupToconfigurethesystem,connectaserialcabletoaCOM port on a PC or notebook computerand to serial (console)port of theManagedSwitch.The consoleport oftheManagedSwitch isDCEalready.So,youcanconnect theconsoleportdirectlytothePCwithouttheneedofNullModem.

A terminal program is required tomake the software connection to the ManagedSwitch. Windows' Hyper Terminal program may be a good choice. The HyperTerminalcanbeaccessedfromtheStart menu.

1. Click START,thenPrograms,AccessoriesandthenHyper Terminal.

2.When the following screen appears, make sure that the COM port should beconfiguredas:

Baud :115200

Data bits : 8

Parity :None

Stop bits : 1

FlowContro:None

5. Logon to the ConsoleOnce the terminal is connected to the device, power on theManaged Switch andtheterminalwillstartrunningtestingprocedures.

Then, the following message of the login username and password appears. Boththe factory default username and password are "admin" as the login screen in Figure5-1appears.

Username: adminPassword:admin

1.Forsecurityreason,pleasechangeandmemorizethenewpass-wordafterthisfirstsetup.

2.Only accept command in lowercase letter under console inter-face.

6.ConfigureIPAddressTheManagedSwitchisshippedwithdefaultIPaddressasshownbelow.

IPAddress:192.168.0.100Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

TocheckthecurrentIPaddressorcreateanewIPaddress for theSwitch,pleaseusetheproceduresasfollows:

Show the current IP address1. On “Switch/>” prompt,enter“show ip”.

2.ThescreendisplaysthecurrentIPaddress,SubnetMaskandGateway,asshowninFigure6-1.

Configure IP address3. On “Switch/>” prompt, enter the following command and press<Enter> as showninFigure6-2.

Switch/>ipsetup192.168.1.100255.255.255.0192.168.1.1

ThepreviouscommandwouldapplythefollowingsettingsfortheSwitch.

IP Address: 192.168.1.100Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0Gateway: 192.168.1.1

4.RepeatStep1tocheckiftheIPaddressischanged.

If the IP is successfully configured, the Managed Switch will apply the new IPaddress setting immediately. You can access the Web interface of the ManagedSwitchthroughthenewIPaddress.

Ifyouarenotfamiliarwithconsolecommandortherelatedparam-eter,enter“help”anytimeinconsoletogetthehelpdescription.

7. Start Web ManagementThe following shows how to start up the Web Management of the ManagedSwitch. Note the Managed Switch is configured through an Ethernet connection.Please make sure the manager PC must be set on the same IP subnet address.

For example, the default IP address of the Managed Switch is 192.168.0.100,thenthemanagerPCshouldbesetat192.168.0.x(wherexisanumberbetween1and254,except100),andthedefaultsubnetmaskis255.255.255.0.

Login the Managed Switch1.Use Internet Explorer 7.0 or above Web browser. Enter IP address

http://192.168.0.100 (the factory-default IP address or that you have justchangedinconsole)toaccesstheWebinterface.

2.When the following dialog box appears, please enter the default username andpassword“admin” (or the password youhave changed via console). The loginscreeninFigure7-2appears.

3.Afterenteringthepassword,themainscreenappearsasFigure7-3shows.

4.TheSwitchMenuon the left of theWebpage letyouaccessall the commandsandstatisticstheSwitchprovides.

Note

If youarenot familiarwithSwitch functionsor the relatedparam-eter, press “Help” button anytime at left of the Web page to get thehelpdescription.

Now, you can use the Web management interface to continue the Switchmanagement or manage the Switch by console interface.

Changing IP Address or forgetting admin password –To reset the IP address to the default IP Address “192.168.0.100” or reset the login password to default value. Press the hardware reset button at the front panel over 5 seconds. After the device is rebooted, you can login to themanagement Web interface within the same subnet of 192.168.0.xx.
