Spotlight on Ireland Homefields welcomes Stewart M. Ireland as the most recent member to our board of directors. Stew has 21 years of experi- ence working as a professional in food service and is currently general man- ager of Miller’s Smorgasbord, Bakery, Gift Shop and Country Store. He served for three years on the Business Excellence Round Table Committee; Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and two years on the board of directors of the Lancaster County Restaurant Association. In addition to Homefields, Stew is a mem- ber of the board of TES, Inc., a den leader and committee member of the Weblos, and on- screen talent in Homefields’ video, Steps to a Healthy Lifestyle Cooking. Homefields’ Homebase The first phase of barn renovations is complete. Where the lower level once contained horse stalls, there are now accessible bathroomsone with a showera kitchenette, a large project room, new interior stairway to the upper level, and an office awaiting Goodwill staff. The rustic charm is still there, and it seems even more charming with the air conditioning on. Homefields would like to extend a very special “thank you” to Paul Risk Associates, Inc. and to Clark Electric, Inc., Fulton Bank, Kreider Brothers, Inc., Protech Mechanical Contractors and TES, Inc. for making the first phase of the barn project a reality. Goodwill Industries, in a joint ven- ture, will staff the horticultural program that Homefields is housing. Thanks to a grant awarded to Homefields from The Lancaster Medical Society Alliance our Steps to a Healthy Lifestyle video project has been reborn. The “Steps” series is a video instructional tool that will help people, those who require assistance and those who care for others, to learn how to adopt a more “heart- healthy” lifestyle. Lynne DeMers and Brad Bass, a pro- ducer and editor for MaxFilms, a local film/video production company, have been steadfastly guiding two projects through taping to editing. The Introduction to Cooking video is in post production and Introduction to Gardening will be com- pleted when we all return for some har- vesting shots at the end of the growing season. Donating their time and talent were volunteers from Community Services Group, Homefields, TES, Inc., Goodwill Industries of Southeastern PA, and Penn State Master Gardeners of Lancaster Co. Adding a jazzy musical mix to the back- ground was Milton Ranck, MHR Commu- nications and thanks to Funk’s Farm Market, Millersville for a jazzy floral back- ground. Because we care about our community as you have cared about us, Homefields will gift videos upon completion to select- ed homes within Lancaster County. Future “Step” videos, Exercise, Shopping, and Container Gardening, will be created as additional funding sources are discovered.
