TESTIMONIALS FROM PAST WINNING BIDDERS In my 55 and my husband’s 70 years of traveling the globe on land and sea, we have never experienced the outstanding level of service, accommodations and caring as we have on the Hemisphere. We so appreciate her beauty, the attention to detail and excellence of her crew. We dreamed of the trip of a lifetime and Hemisphere and her crew far exceeded our expectations. Thank you Gavin, the best boat captain and a really great guy! Alana, Frida, Rosa, you were magic – we hardly saw you and everything was perfect! How did you do that?! Lee, we didn’t see you much but our hot tub was HOT and everything ran smoothly. Adam and Luke, you ran the boats on TT and kept us out of trouble (Luke - I still want a rematch on the hobie). Simon – the best dive master anywhere! Linus – amazing! Best food anywhere! Caz – you are one awesome girl – thank you for helping me on the hobie! We will always remember you all and plan to see you again soon! Lots of love, (2013 SeaChange HEMISPHERE auction winners for South Pacific trip) Laguna Beach, CA The Hemisphere is a unique experience, as she is the largest catamaran in the world; under the fantastic leadership of Captain Gavin and his crew you will enjoy the memory of a lifetime! We took our family (that includes 4 kids) and invited my brother and his family. We had the best time of our lives on the Hemisphere because she has every toy one can think of. As a friend of the ocean, my wife and my sister-in-law logged some amazing dives, while the dads took the kids on a snorkeling expedition. But as we all know, the crew enhances the experience and is the glue between the guests and the yacht. The crew will be there for your every need with a great smile and if you are worried about any of your meals we can tell you that we had some of the most amazing meals on the Hemisphere we have ever had. We bid high last year because I thought ‘this would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience’ and also because the Oceana charity is one that we believe in as a family! Every single dollar that spent on the Oceana bid for the Hemisphere was worth it and we would do it again this year if it wasn’t for my promise to our friends at Oceana to let another family enjoy this gorgeous yacht. To tell you the truth we are in the process of working through Burgess Yachts to book another 2 weeks on the Hemisphere. So please, think of Oceana and think of your family and don’t let that other person out-bid you. (2012 SeaChange HEMISPHERE auction winners for Caribbean trip)

Day 1

Cairns > Double Island

Cairns is Australia's premier regional city and one of the safest tropical cities in the world. This coastal small town of the province of Queensland is indeed the main door towards the majority of the natural attractions of the area. Embark at Cairns Martin Marina at noon and cruise north to Double Island, where you can take a private tour of the world heritage listed rainforest at the Daintree National Park. Over 135 million years old, Daintree is the oldest rainforest in the world and one of the most diverse and beautiful examples in existence of mother nature. It contains the highest number of plant and animal species that are rare, or threatened with extinction, anywhere in the world. Here you can enjoy walks from 30 minutes to six hour hikes, you can sit on beaches rated among the most spectacular in the world (and the most deserted!), or you might prefer a river cruise followed by a meal at one of the many restaurants on site that serve local delicacies. Anchor for the evening in a secluded Double Island retreat.

Day 2

Double Island > Low Isles

After a leisurely breakfast, cruise north along the coastline to Low Isles, the first of the Marine State Parks, for a late lunch and a chance to snorkel with the resident turtles in the shallows of the fringing reef. After a walk on the beach or an exploration of the nature trail to the island’s lighthouse, enjoy canapés and sundowners overlooking the Tableland Mountains in the distance. Alternatively you might like to anchor off fashionable Port Douglas. Enjoy lunch at one of the outstanding restaurants and indulge in some boutique shopping. Invigorate your senses at Port Douglas’ fantastic day spa, before rejoining Hemisphere for a sheltered late afternoon coastal cruise and an elegant evening meal.

Day 3

Low Isles > Opal Reef

Enjoy breakfast while underway to Opal Reef for the first of many opportunities to experience the ‘Outer’ Great Barrier Reef. Due to the protective zoning, like many of its neighbors, Opal Reef is teaming with fantastic colorful sea life. An alfresco lunch can be followed by a full afternoon of snorkelling. Later, there is time to relax and enjoy the facilities on board to unwind prior to a fun and entertaining evening meal. The outer reef affords great protection from the Coral Sea as you enjoy a peaceful night’s rest at anchor.

After an active day, just relax and play one of the many family games onboard or unwind with a movie either on satellite TV or a DVD in the comfort of your stateroom.

Day 5

Escape Reef > Ribbon Reefs

Wake up surrounded only by natural reef and the sounds of the sea. After an early departure and a scenic cruise along the inside of the Barrier Reef, arrive at the beginning of the Ribbon Reefs. Enjoy a spectacular dive at ‘Steve’s Bommie’ and visit an isolated pinnacle, frequented by large schools of pelagic fish and superb hard and soft corals. For snorkelers, the numerous large coral heads within the lagoon offer the excitement of swimming with a tremendous variety of colorful tropical fish. In the afternoon, prepare for a dive at Ribbon Reef No. 5, known as ‘Andy’s Postcard’ and home to an abundance of underwater life. During certain times of the year, this stretch of coast is visited by migrating minke whales, which will swim right up to the yacht and normally allow guests to join them in the water for a firsthand experience. After dinner, venture on deck to appreciate the southern sky and star gaze at the constellations.

Andy’s Postcard, an isolated pinnacle that is part of Ribbon Reef no. 5, and Steve’s Bommie, which is part of Ribbon Reef no. 3, are breathtaking dive sites. Both sites are renowned for ‘pulsating’ with reef and pelagic fish species. Both are large pinnacles that rise out of 30m of water, covered in beautiful coral growth. Fish species often seen on the pinnacle include trevally, tuna, goatfish, surgeonfish, stingrays, barracuda, sweetlips, angelfish, lionfish, squirrelfish, rainbow runners, fusiliers, batfish, pipefish, mackerel and white tip reef sharks.

Part of Ribbon Reef no. 9, Pixie’s Pinnacle is a truly remarkable dive site. The amount of marine life packed onto this pinnacle is simply amazing. Towards the top of the pinnacle, hard and soft coral cover is outstanding and includes black coral. Gorgonian fans, sponges, lace coral and yellow turret coral are all represented and in pristine condition. Anemones, occupied by resident clownfish, are ever present, with a keener eye required to spot cohabiting prawns and crabs. In many places, moray eels can be seen peering out from their lairs, as well as hunting lion fish and resting peacock groupers. Night diving can be particularly spectacular at these sites when coinciding with coral spawning. Alternatively, follow the State Park nature walk across the island to ‘Blue Lagoon’ – a beautiful setting for a picnic lunch and a chance to explore one of the island’s 16 beaches. The clam gardens in the sheltered bay offer superb snorkelling within meters of the yacht for all guests to enjoy. In the afternoon, an offshore fishing expedition, beach volleyball or possibly a dive at ‘snakepit’ for the more adventurous. A short scenic helicopter ride offers an aerial appreciation of the panoramic colors of the reef.
