Duncan has become a tireless proponent and champion for persons with disabilities. Purpose/goals: The Brain Injury Symposium will enhance the attendees’ knowledge of brain injury rehabilitation in the areas of personal stories of survival from a brain injury, diversity, sexuality and intimacy, seizure disorders, nutritional considerations, and technological strategies.

objectives:At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to identify…

• Personal and professional experiences with brain injury and recovery.

• Individual differences, core values, and how to effectively accommodate and manage diversity.

• Methods for incorporating sexuality and intimacy issues into the rehabilitation process.

• Different types of seizure disorders associated with brain injury including impacts, diagnostic testing, and treatment options.

• Nutritional complications, needs, and goals considering post injury issues.

• Low and high technology strategies for treatment of basic and instrumental activities of daily living.
