New Generation and local projects were the focus as the Club returned to the Visioning Challenge at

the Club Meeting last Tuesday morning.

Armed with stick-on green and orange spots, members voted on nine of the current New Generation

projects with three clearly having minimal support for the future. The voting went this way:

• RYLA and Youth Opportunities had 75% member support

• RYPEN and the Science Experience gained the next level of support with

• RYDA and the NYSF completing the list of projects with at least 50% member support.

When it came to discussion on other local projects it led to the difficult area of evaluating the

community service component of a project alongside its fundraising expectations. The Club has 2 such

events; the Shed BBQ and the Magill Market.

The dilemma for club members is that both these projects have a significant community service

component and to a lesser degree fund raising, but they require regular demands on time. Time is a

valuable commodity because most club members are in full-time employment. One-off events that

fulfil all of the above may be an attractive alternative. We still have some difficult and sensitive

discussions to work through.

Lindsay’s Footing Tipping

Round 8 saw a number of tippers improve their standing with a score of 8. Three people, however,

laid claim to the prize money after picking the Friday night winner and closest margin. Ken Q

(Morialta), Pauline H (Magill) and Alan C (Morialta) all had their hand up with a 1 point margin

difference.

Having previously advised that it is difficult to divide a $10 prize between 3 people, the judge has

invoked a ‘count-back’ and declares Ken Q the winner (having got 8 matches correct last week,

compared to Pauline’s score of 7 and Alan’s 6).

Commiserations go to Wayne A (Magill), Jeff F (Morialta) and Tony O (Brownhill Creek) who failed

to submit their tips and received a score of 1. Adelaide was the only Away team to win.

With lots of 8’s scored in Round 8, I expect at least a few 9’s this week in Round 9. So, the prize will

naturally go to the best tipper for the round. GOOD LUCK.

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of a worthy enterprise and in particular to encourage and foster

The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by every Rotarian of their occupation as an opportunity to serve

society.

The application of the ideal service by every Rotarian to their personal, business and community life.

The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional people united in the ideal of service.

The Four Way Test of the things we think, say or do:

Is it the truth? Is it Fair to all concerned?

Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

For good food, good fellowship And the opportunity to serve through Rotary

…we give thanks.
