SPACE FOR 95 OR 150 PASSENGERS

The Volvo 7700 is available both as a two-axle 12-metre bus

and as an 18-metre articulated bus for up to 150 passengers.

Flat floor. The floor is flat andthere are no steps anywhere insidethe bus. This aids fast, smoothpassenger movement and makescleaning easier and quicker.

With the Volvo 7700, it is easier to keep to the timetable.

Consistent high quality and operating reliability minimise the

risk of unplanned stops, while the well-matched powertrain

ensures that the bus quickly reaches the optimal speed. With

wide door openings and a low, flat f loor throughout the bus,

the Volvo 7700 also permits fast passenger movement and

short stop times at bus stops. The floor is low throughout the

interior of the articulated version too, thanks to Volvos unique

turntable design.

Easy to get on and off

Entry height is 320 mm at the front doors and 340 mm at

the middle and rear doors. With the kneeling function acti-

vated, boarding height at the front door can be lowered to250 mm. The Volvo 7700 is also available in a variant where

the entire side can be lowered.

The engine is installed vertically in the rear left of the

bus so it intrudes as little as possible into the passenger

compartment while at the same time permitting a low

exit at the rear door.

Convenient for passengers with movement disabilities

It is naturally also possible to equip the bus with a ramp

so that passengers with baby buggies or in wheelchairs

can gain easy entry.

High comfort

The Volvo 7700 has a modern, light and airy interior with

comfortable wall-mounted seats and it can be specified with

tinted windows. A high-capacity heating and ventilation sys-

tem provides a comfortable climate irrespective of the tem-

perature outside. The articulated bus has separate ventilation

systems for the front and rear passenger compartments.

Low noise level

The Volvo 7700 is available in two versions, with a maximum

exterior noise level of 77 or 80 dB(A). Interior noise levels are

also very low thanks to excellent sound insulation.

Safety

The Volvo 7700 has a high safety standard, with features

such as collision protection at the front and along the sides,

door safety systems and camera monitoring at the doors.

The interior too is designed to minimise the risk of injuries.

Easy to clean

The flat, step-free floor and the cantilever seats make

the Volvo 7700 easy to clean.

Capacity up to 150 passengers

In two-axle guise, the Volvo 7700 can carry up to about

95 passengers. The articulated bus can transport up to about

150 passengers. Both versions offer immense flexibility

regarding seats and doors.

vidual wishes and is fitted with a three-point seat belt.

The climate in the drivers working area can be adjusted sepa-

rately and effective sound insulation keeps out unwanted noise.

Good visibility

Large windows, large rear-view mirrors and powerful headlights

provide excellent visibility. You can also specify a rear-vision

camera that gives you a commanding view behind the bus.

High-class AV equipment

The Volvo 7700 is available with the Volvo Sound & Vision

City Bus System, a flexible and high-class audio system with

excellent audio reproduction and intelligent control of various

functions. For example, the volume can be automatically

lowered when the doors open, and the microphone can be

separately directed to the interior and exterior loudspeakers.

Easy to manoeuvre

The Volvo 7700 has become even easier to manoeuvre thanks

to a new front axle. The wheel deflection angle is a generous

54 degrees despite a maximum front axle load of 7.1 tonnes.

Air suspension and sturdy roll stabilisers provide excellent ride

comfort and anti-roll stability. The articulated bus is almost as

easy to manoeuvre as the 12-metre variant.

Comfortable to drive

The new engine provides high torque from start and across

a wider rev range. It is matched by the very latest automatic

transmissions providing highly economical, comfortable and

smooth driving.

New generation of electronically controlled disc brakes

The Volvo 7700 is equipped with the latest generation of

Volvos electronically controlled disc brakes (EBS) with ABS

and ASR (anti-slip regulation). They provide excellent braking

performance and fast, smooth and controlled braking. The

system also has a number of additional features including Hill

Start Aid, which prevents the bus from rolling backwards when

starting off, and Brake Blending that ensures the wheel brakes

and auxiliary brakes interact optimally. Continuous monitoring

of brake pad condition and monitoring of brake disc tempera-

ture are further examples. The Volvo 7700 also has a steplessly

controlled hydraulic retarder which provides smooth, gentle

braking and reduces wheel brake wear.

Simple daily service

All the service points are easily accessible and the buss elec-

tronic systems automatically monitor a variety of basic functions

such as coolant level, oil level, oil pressure, brake pressure and

turbo boost pressure every time the engine is started up.

Front collision protection

The Volvo 7700 features a front collision protection system

that shields the driver in the event of an impact.

New instrument panel. The drivers environment is ergonomicallydesigned and features a new instrument panel that gives the driveran excellent overview. The most important controls are grouped insatellites beside the steering wheel that move together with thewheel as it is adjusted.

Integrated 3-point seat belt. Thedrivers seat is fitted as standard withan integrated 3-point seat belt.

Driver information. The driverreceives information when neededabout the buss electronically control-led functions via an easy to read andclear display in the instrument panel.

New sound system. Volvos newsound system for city buses VoSound & Vision offers perfect sreproduction and can be integratwith a number of other on-boardfunctions.

Ventilation. A powerful ventilation system ensures thatthe climate on board is always pleasant. The controlsand instruments are clear and easy to use.

A DIESEL ENGINE TO MEET TOMORROWS DEMANDS

The powerplant in diesel-driven version of the Volvo 7700 is the Volvo D9B. It is a newly

developed 9-litre engine that offers superb driveability and excellent fuel economy.

The Volvo D9B is available with 260, 310 and 360 hp and it

offers high torque across a wide rev range. Maximum torque

from the most powerful version is a generous 1600 Nm.

In practice this means instant response to the accelerator,

quick acceleration and excellent pulling power in high gear.

Or, quite simply, more comfortable, more efficient progress.

The Volvo D9B is matched by a choice of automatic trans-

missions and rear axles for best overall performance.

Built for Euro 4. And for Euro 5 (incentive)

The Volvo D9B is an environmentally optimised engine.

It has been developed from the ground up for extremely

low particulate emissions. In order to also reduce emissions

of nitrogen oxides, the Volvo 7700 is equipped with a sys-

tem for after-treatment of exhaust gases. It is known as SCR

(Selective Catalytic Reduction). In this system, a mixture of

ammonia and water known as AdBlue is injected into the

exhaust gases. As they pass through the catalytic converter,

a chemical reaction converts the nitrogen oxides into harmless

nitrogen gas and water vapour. The technology is both simple

and dependable and makes it possible to meet both current

and forthcoming emissions requirements. The Volvo 7700

is certified for Euro 4 and is also available in a version that

meets Euro 5 emission levels (incentive).

The Volvo D9B is an in-line 6-cylinder dieselengine with a displacement of 9.4 litres. Itfeatures a single cylinder head, overhead cam-shaft, 4 valves per cylinder and unit injectors.

In the exhaust after-treatment process, a mixture of ammoniaand water known as AdBlue is injected into the exhaustgases. As they pass through the catalytic converter, achemical reaction converts the nitrogen oxides into harm-less nitrogen gas and water vapour.

AdBlue is stored in a separate tanknormally mounted on the same sideas the fuel tank.

A new hydraulic fan system pro-vides extremely effective cooling.Its installation on the roof ensuresminimal dirt accumulation.

IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO NATURAL GAS OR BIOGAS

The new full low-floor gas-powered version of the Volvo 7700 is an excellent environmentally suitable alterna-

tive if you have access to natural gas or biogas. With the new generation of gas-powered engines, emissions

have been reduced still further from an already low level. What is more, driveability has improved considerably.

Lower emissions

The natural gas and biogas versions of the Volvo 7700 are

powered by the Volvo G9A engine. Based on Volvos latest

9-litre diesel, the Volvo G9A has been optimised in detail

for gas power. Unlike our previous gas-powered engines,

the Volvo G9A is a so-called Lambda 1 or stoechiometric

engine. This means that the blend of air and fuel is constantly

regulated to correspond to the engines requirements at any

given moment in time. This solution makes it possible to

treat the exhaust gases with a three-way catalytic converter,which means that emissions are lowered to levels that are way

below current and forthcoming legislated requirements. The

Volvo G9A has been developed to meet the EEV* emission

levels and to halve the particulate emissions of a Euro 4 diesel

engine. The nitrogen oxide content of the exhaust gases is just

one-tenth the limit specified according to Euro 4.

Same power output irrespective of fuel quality

The engine management system automatically modifies

combustion to suit fuel quality. As a result, the engines

performance is not affected by the quality of the gas.

Better driveability

The Volvo G9A is available with a choice of two power

outputs, 260 and 300 hp. Maximum torque in the more

powerful version is 1400 Nm, and this is available across

a very wide rev range. This means that the engine responds

instantly to the accelerator and offers you immense power

whenever you need it.

Certified installation

The gas-powered versions of the Volvo 7700 are certifiedaccording to the ECE 110 R European standard.

Natural-gas buses already back in 1992
