Purpose:

Thisprojectwascreatedtomeetboththeneedsofmymultimediacourseas

alinearPowerPointProjectandasarecruitmenttoolformyBroadcastVideo

Productioncourse.

TargetAudience:

Myprimarytargetaudiencewashighschoolstudentswhoweretryingto

decideonwhatelectivestheyshouldregisterfor.ThefinalprojectwillbeplayedonaloopasstudentsmovefromstationtostationataCareerFairdesignedtopromotevariousvocationalandacademicelectives.

ThemeofProject:

ThethemeofthisprojectwasIsBVPRightforYou?Itwasposedasa

questionforstudentstoponderwhileconsideringdifferentelectiveoptions.

Throughoutthepresentation,studentswereshownexamplesofwhois

takingtheclassandsomeofthethingsthattheycouldbedoing.

CurriculumConnection:

Icould(butneverwould)usesomethinglikethisinmyinstructiontohave

studentsproducingamovieusingPowerPoint.SinceIteachvideoproduction,thereisnoneedformetousePowerPointtomakesomething

likethis.Icouldhavestudentsdosomethinglikethistointroduce

themselvestotheclass.

Challenges:

IabsolutelyloveusingMaccomputers,buttheydontplaynicewith

Microsoftproducts.IbelievethatPowerPointisagreat(albeitarchaic)tool

forpresentationstoalargegroup,butIthinktheyshouldonlybeusedas

talkingpointsforalivepresenter.Anyonewhohaseverendureda

PowerPointlectureonlinecouldattesttothisfact.Thatbeingsaid,tryingto

incorporateQuicktimefilesintoaMicrosoftapplicationisnevergoingto

worktherightway.EvenafterIwasabletoconvertmyprojecttoanMP4,

myQuicktimefileswouldnotplaycorrectly.UltimatelyIwasvery

disappointedwiththisproject.

LessonsLearned/ToolsUsed:

IlearnedthatPowerPointisagreattoolforpresentations,butnotsomuch

formakingmovies.Imayhavebeenextremelyfrustratedbythisproject

becauseIknowthatIcouldhavemadesomethinginFinalCutProthatwould

havebeenfarsuperiorinquality.Italsowouldhavebeenmucheasierto

createwithFCP.IdidntreallylearnanythingaboutPowerPointthatIdidnt

knowbefore.

LessonsLearned/Learner:

RegrettablyIlearned(orremembered)thatIhaveahardtimeputting100%ofmyeffortintoaprojectthatIknowcouldbedonebetteranotherway.IamnotsayingthatIdidntspendalotoftimeworkingonthisproject,butI

couldhavedoneabetterjob.IhonestlythinkthatPowerPointisslowlyfadingfromtheamountofuseithasexperiencedpreviouslyandonedayit

mightjustgoaheadandfadeonout.
