His first employment waswith the former Alfred TelephoneCompany, and later was em-ployed as general manager for Al-fred Atlas Gravel and Sand from1960-1984. William served hiscountry as a member of theUnited States Army, serving in theEuropean-African theatre of op-erations during World War IIunder the command of Gen.George F. Patton. He was a mem-
