Sunday, May 20Advanced Lubrication 301: Advanced AdditivesAdvanced Lubrication 301 covers the molecular structuresand chemistries of lubricant additive types. Additivesexamined will include antioxidants, rust inhibitors, detergents, dispersants, antiwear additives, extreme pressure additives, friction modifiers and rheology and viscosity modifiers.

Advanced Tribology 310: NanotribologyThis course will begin with an introduction to the topic ofNanotribology. The course will then cover molecular dynamics, tribochemistry and nanomechanical characterization. Thecourse day will conclude with a module covering nanoparticleadditives.

Automobile Lubrication 202: Gasoline

This course will begin with an overview of Automotive Enginesand Transmission Hardware. It will then cover Engine andVehicle Bearings, Engine Oils, Automotive Transmission Fluidsand Tribology Testing for Automotive Components. The coursewill then conclude with presentations on Surface TextureMeasurement: Analysis for Automotive Applications and onthe Future of Automotive Tribology.

Basic Lubrication 101: Fundamentals of LubricationBasic Lubrication 101 is primarily for the person entering thelubrication field who needs a broad introduction to the fieldof lubrication, lubrication principles and lubricating materials. This course is also for individuals not directly involved but whoneed a broad overview of lubricants and basic lubricatingcomponents. This course does not require a formal scientificdegree or background, although many technical terms andconcepts are covered. Experienced people attend the courseto be kept up to date on the latest developments, especiallyin those areas not directly related to their job function or areaof expertise. Thus, Basic Lubrication 101 is usually attendedby a broad cross section of people such as technical, technicalservice, sales, marketing, manufacturing, maintenance andmanagers who in some way are involved in the industry.

Hydraulics 201: Hydraulic Fluids and SystemOverviewHydraulics 201 provides an overview of the basic mechanicalcomponents used in hydraulic fluid power transmission. Thecomposition and performance of hydraulic fluids will be

discussed. The course will also feature sections on maintenanceand troubleshooting as they pertain to hydraulic systems andin-service fluid analysis.

Metalworking Fluids 125: Health & SafetyMWF 125 provides participants with an understanding of thefundamentals of the primary health and safety issues withwhich fluid managers, machine operators, shop stewards andmanagers must be familiar to provide workers with a safework environment. The program opens with an overview ofessential industrial hygiene and metalworking fluid toxicologyconcepts. It then teaches the fundamentals of mist generationin metalworking fluid systems; reinforcing these concepts witha case study. A case study is used to familiarize participantswith metalworking fluid microbiology fundamentals. Thisfictionalized case study steps through microbiology basics, microbe health risks, and microbial contamination control. The final course module presents an overview of GlobalHarmonized Standards (GHS) and their impact on themetalworking fluid stakeholder community.

NLGI Grease 101 (Presented in cooperation with NLGI)

This course is a comprehensive overview of all aspects oflubricating grease. Grease formulation components arethoroughly covered, including base oils and the many differentthickener types. Manufacturing technologies are reviewed, aswell as grease testing significance and methods. Included is agood discussion detailing how to select the proper grease fordifferent applications, and a variety of examples of bothindustrial and automotive applications are discussed.

Wednesday, May 23Advanced Lubrication 302: Advanced LubricationRegimesAdvanced Lubrication 302 goes more in-depth on lubricationregimes, wear and wear mechanisms, as well as lubricantfailure analysis. This course includes a series of lubricantfailure analysis case studies on automotive engines, gearsand bearings.

Basic Lubrication 102: Basic ApplicationsBasic Lubrication 102 is an overview of equipment systems(gears, bearings, seals, compressors and engines) and theirlubrication requirements, including a module on grease. LikeBasic Lubrication 101, this course does not require a formal
