It all started with a complaint from the old womans neighbor, Mrs.
Blake. Firefighters arrived on scene within minutes of receiving the complaint. The old womans attic was overflowing with books. Firefighters began to pile the
books on her front porch. As the old woman began to weep the firefighterspouring kerosene in the house and urging her to leave. The woman was givenmany chances to leave but refused. Captain Beatty, chief of the local firedepartment, had no choice but to set the house on fire with the woman standingon the front porch with her books. While Guy Montag, a firefighter, begged herto leave the house so she wouldnt get hurt. The old woman pulled a match out
and set her own house on fire. Its hard to understand why she would want toburn with her books and why she would set her own house on fire. Investigatorshave reason to believe she is psychotic but still unsure. Although, the penalty forhaving books is jail time and the criminals house getting destroyed by fire, the
punishment should never be as severe as death.

chief of local fire department, ordered Montag to burn his own house down along
with his books. Usually firefighters burn the house and books with kerosene and a
match but Captain Beatty decided this job should be done differently. Montag had
to do this job alone and with a flame thrower. As neighbors crowded around the
house, keeping their distance, Montag went through every room destroying it with
the flame thrower. When he finished the job he was to be arrested and sent to jail.Montag then refused to give Captin Beatty the flame thrower. Then he killed
Captain Beatty setting him on fire, then leaving the rest of the firefighters on the
ground, knocked out. When
