Studies the effect of changes in the corporate income tax structure since 1950 on the textile in- dustry. Data were largely obtained tlrough in- terviews with executives of textile companies. Finds that the liberalization of depreciation al- lowances in corporate income taxes increased de- mand for capital equipment in the textile indus- try and gave rise to higher levels of internal in- vestment funds through lower income taxes. The second dis- cusses the activities of a particular land mort- gage company operating throughout the midwest until it wvent into receivership in 1894. Part three is the story of two townships; one in Kan- sas and one in Nebraska. Although the style is episodic, the material is very systematically pre- sented. Index.
