SAT IF channel converters cs432, cs464 1. Product description The cs432, cs464 are SAT IF converters (in text – module) intend to convert frequency of SAT IF transponders coming from different satellites or polarizations in frequency range from 250 MHz to 2350 MHz to necessary SAT IF frequency in range from 950 MHz to 2150 MHz. The cs432 converts up to 32 transponders according to DVB-S and DVB-S2 standards. Module has one output and output signal loop through. The cs464 converts up to 64 transponders according to DVB-S and DVB-S2 standards. Module has two independent sections and two independent outputs. The modules are Web controlled. The modules are provided for powering LNB via connectors RF IN. The modules have been designed in accordance with standard EN60728-5 grade 2. The modules are intended for indoor use only. 2. Safety instructions Installation of the converter must be done according IEC60728-11 and national safety standards. Any repairs must be made by qualified personnel. Do not expose this converter to moisture or splashing water and make sure no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, are placed near or on the unit. Avoid placing the converter next to heat sources such as central heating components or in areas of high humidity. Keep the converter away from naked flames. If the converter has been kept in cold conditions for a long time, bringing it into a warm environment may cause condensation, so allow it to warm up for no less than 2 hours before plugging into the mains. Ventilation should not be impeded by covering the converter, such as newspapers, table-cloths, curtains etc. Mount the converter in a vertical position only. If installing in a 19” rack system additional forced air cooling fans may be required (see section 7 "Technical specifications" - operating temperature range). 4. Installation instructionsRead the safety instruction first.Comments of the front panel indicators:If the link with the control Ethernet interface is established - the LINK/ACTIVITY indicators blinks;When module operating, the status indicator blinks at frequency about one time per second.All settings can be made using the web browser via control Ethernet interface. Disconnect power supply unit from the mains before make all connections of modules.Fasten the module on DIN RAIL or individual holder.Connect all necessary RF, powering and control cables.Connect the 75 Ω load to the unused RF output F sockets.Connect power supply in to mains.Within 5-20 seconds of powering the module will run in normal operation mode.

The „Change password" table allows you to change the password. Enter the new password in the "New password" field and confirm the new password retyping it in the "Repeat new password" field. The change of password will not take effect until you press the "Modify" button.

In the "User management" table you can manage users, who will be able to login into the module. Enter the new username and password in the appropriate fields, select desired role for user and press the "Add" button to add new user or "Update" button to change settings of the user. User role "Admin" enables the password change function and user management function. User role "User" enables only password change function and read only function for parameters. Press the "Remove" button to remove user from list.

6.7.6 Restore defaults Move the cursor on the “System menu” tab then click on the "Restore defaults" line. The reset window is displayed.

Click “Yes” and the configuration of the module restore the factory default values (see Figure 19).The Control IP parameters remain unchanged.

6.7.7 Restart the device Move the cursor on the “System menu” tab then click on the "Restart the device” line. Click “Yes” and the module

restarts (see Figure 20).

Click on "Click to select file" and select the file containing the configuration data that you wish to restore on the module. Once you have selected the file, click on the "Upload". Upload progress bar will appear. Upload process can take some time. After successful upload must appear message “Parameters updated successfully” (see Figure 11).

6.7.4 Firmware upgradeDevice firmware can be upgraded via web browser. Move the cursor on the “System menu” tab then click on the "Firmware

upgrade" line. Press onto “Click to select file” button and select firmware binary file pre-stored in your PC. The Firmware upgrade window is displayed (see Figure 17).

If valid file was selected, a version number of new firmware will be displayed. Otherwise an error message will appear. Press “Upload” button to upload new firmware to the device. Upload progress bar will appear. Upload process can take some time. A message will be displayed asking to restart the module when the file was sent to the module. New firmware will be programmed into the module only after restart. Module will startup with a new firmware and continue to operate with previous parameters. Additional new firmware features (if any) may need to setup additionally to take affect.

ATTENTION! Avoid power supply interruption when a programming process is going on.Module has possibility to load software revision history and check availability for new software release. Click onto “Check

online” link. If computer (not module!) has internet access, it will show a list of all software releases with links to binary files. Binary file can be downloaded and saved to computer. After that, use the firmware upgrade method as described above.

6.7.5 User managementMove the cursor on the “System menu” tab then click on the "User management" line. The user management window is

displayed (see Figure 18).

6. Operating

6.1 Initial configurationAll modules leave the factory with this control: Ethernet interface IP address: 192.168.1.10. In order to avoid conflicts with

other IP addresses, it is necessary to perform an initial configuration in local mode. Subsequently, it will be possible to access the modules via the local area network (LAN), either to re-programme it or to check its operating status.

The modules leave the factory with the following Control Ethernet interface TCP/IP configuration:IP address of the module: 192.168.1.10Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

To access each module, use a personal computer (PC) equipped with an Ethernet card and RJ-45 cable (CAT-5E or CAT-6). The IP address of the PC/MAC must be configured within the following range: 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254 (do not use 192.168.1.10, since this is the IP address of the module to be configured). To start the configuration of the module, open your web browser and type in the following direction: http://192.168.1.10. The login prompt will appear on the screen (see Figure 7). Module can be controlled using any web browser. The exception is Internet Explorer, which must be 10.0 version or higher.

Access to the site is protected by user name and password. The default user name and password is admin. Enter the user name and password and click on "Login" button.

Note: the default password - admin - can (and must) be changed as explained in the section 6.7.5.

During initial configuration you need to change the default control interface TCP/IP configuration as explained in the section 6.6.

Control interface IP address reset to default procedure: press the "RESET" (see Figure 1, pos. [5]) button for more than 3 seconds and release it. After this operation the control interface IP address will be set to 192.168.1.10, user name and password set to admin.

6.2 General configuration

Initial Web interface screenThe first screen that appears when the module accessed contains the "Main" window, which gives general information

on the device.

6.7 System menuThis menu tab contains following submenu items: "Event logs", "Export parameters", "Import parameters", "Firmware

upgrade", "User management", "Restore defaults", "Reset the device", "Language" (see Figure 15).

6.7.1 Event logsThis enables you to see a list of the log messages of the module. Log contents remains after the power loss of module.

Events in the log are sorted by time – the newest are in the top. Information events are shown in blue background, error messages are in red. After switching on the unit, the current date is set to 2000:01:01 and time to 00.00.00. When the module is connected to Web date and time automatically sets from NTP sever. Local time offset in the log is used from the time parameters table (see Figure 13). Each record has an event type, which can be used to filter particular messages. Just select checkboxes in the “Logs filtering” table and press “apply”. Other messages will be hidden. “Export logs” button lets to export all messages to a file. “Erase logs” button will erase all logs from the system.

6.7.2 Export parametersAll of the data established on the module can be saved onto a backup file. Inversely, the configuration data saved on an

appropriate file can be restored on module. Move the cursor on the “System menu” tab then click on the "Export parameters" line. The next steps depends on the version of browser or OS you're using.

6.7.3 Import parametersMove the cursor on the “System menu” tab then click on the "Import parameters" line. The Import parameters window is

displayed (see Figure 16).

In the top of each configuration screen you will see a main menu tabs (see Figure 8, pos. [1]).Using it, you can switch between the different configuration menus. The tab highlighted in yellow shows which menu is

active at a given moment. The "System menu" tab contains several submenu items. Common elements for all screens are module title (see Figure 8, pos. [2]) and login information strings [3]. The module

title can be changed after pressing the "Change" button in the "Device information" table (see Figure 8, pos. [4]). Pressing on the "Logout" string you can logout from module control interface.

Device information table (see Figure 8, pos. [4])This shows the following data of module:“Device model”: model of the module.“Serial number”: serial number of the module.“Title”: changeable device title.“Software version”: module software version number. “Hardware version”: module hardware version number. “IP”: IP address of the control interface.“System time”: current time, synchronized from the NTP server. Manual setup and local time offset can be selected in

the "Common settings" tab (see section 6.6).“Up time”: time passed from last power-up or restart of the module.

Common status table (see Figure 8, pos. [5])The following module parameters are displayed at real time: Processor load in percents.Internal temperature measured in degrees of Celsius.Power supply voltage measured in Volts.

Diagnostic information table (see Figure 8, pos. [6])All module errors and comments how to eliminate these errors are displayed.

6.3 LNB settingsThis screen consists of four tables with appropriate LNB settings (see Figure 10). The "LNB #1-4" tables are used to

configure parameters of LNB, connected to corresponding RF input of SAT IF signal.

“Bandwidth, kHz” – bandwidth of convertible transponders. Bandwidth (kHz) = transponder symbol rate (kS/s)x1.35.“Output frequency, MHz” – converter SAT IF output frequency.“Output attenuation, dB” – output signal attenuation for each output signal. Can be selected 0…8 dB by 0.5 dB step.“Output attenuation, dB” – for common output signals attenuation. Can be selected 0…15 dB by 1 dB step.

6.5 Channel stacking cs464On the cs464 module up to 64 converters can be set up in two identical sections “Channel stacking #1“ and “Channel

stacking #2 “. Both sections are identical to cs432.

6.6 Common settingsThis screen consists of two tables: “IP parameters” and “Date, time” (see Figure 13).

The “IP parameters table” is used to configure device Ethernet connection.The description of the "IP parameters" tables rows:- "MAC Address" - the physical address of the module's Ethernet network card is displayed automatically.- "IP Address" - enter the IP address that you wish to assign to the module. This address must fall within the range of local

network addresses. Default 192.168.1.10.- "Subnet mask" - enter the local network mask. Default 255.255.255.0- "Gateway" - enter the IP address of this gateway. This information is only required if you want to access the module from

the Internet. Default 192.168.1.1.- “Update” – button for set up changed parameters listed above.The “Date, time” table is used to set system time.The description of the “Date, time” tables rows:- “System time” – current date and time.- “Time zone” – select desired time zone.“Date and time source” - there are two ways to set system time:1. Automatically from NTP sever. Internet connection is required. Set “NTP server” address, for example pool.ntp.org.

(see Figure 13). 2. Set “Date” and “Time” manually. Move cursor over “Date” or “Time” to see desired data and time format (see Figure 14). After switching off/on the module, the system date and time resets to 2000:01:01 and time to 00.00.00.- “Update” – button for set up changed parameters listed above.

6.3.1 LNB #1-4 tablesThe “LNB #1-4” tables consist of following parameters:"Title" - the user entered description of corresponding RF input. This title will be used in the SAT input selection box of

"Channel stacking" table (see Figure 12, section 6.4). "LNB LO frequency" – set the LNB local oscillator lower frequency in megahertz. Use 9750 MHz for the universal converter. "LNB HI frequency" – set the LNB local oscillator upper frequency in megahertz. This parameter is enabled only when the

"LNB power" is set to "Auto". Use 10600 MHz for the universal converter. “LNB Power” - power supply of the converter – can be set to “Off”, “Auto”, “13V”, “18V”, “13V/22kHz”, “18V/22kHz”.If “Auto” is selected, power supply voltage of the converter is chosen according to set polarization – 18V Horizontal, 13V

Vertical; if the “Frequency” of the satellite exceeds the value F=(950+LNB Hi+2150+LNB Lo)/2, the 22 kHz signal is switched ON and “LNB Hi freq.” is selected.

For example: LNB Hi=10,600, LNB Lo=9750, then F=(950+10,600+2150+9750)/2=11,725MHz. When power supply of the converter is set to value different from "Auto" - "LNB HI frequency", “Satellite”, "Polarization" rows are disabled and the "LNB LO frequency" value is used for IF frequency calculation.

ATTENTION! In the mode"Auto" all transponders of selected input must be less/equal or more this threshold value. Otherwise, use manual LNB settings.

“Satellite” - DISEQC command is used to select the satellite when the switch that supports DISEQC protocol is present. Possible commands: “None”, “SAT A”, “SAT B”, “SAT C”, “SAT D”. This parameter is enabled only when the "LNB power" is set to "Auto".

“Polarization” – set the polarization of converter. Polarization can be “Horizontal” or “Vertical”.“Update” - button for set up changed parameters listed above (see Figure 11).

6.4 Channel stacking cs432On the cs432 module up to 32 converters can be set up in this section (see Figure 12). Example of settings.

„Update” button.
