THE TOPICS

“Hi, my name is Juli Mast. I live near Bluffton, IN, on my family’s dairy farm with my dad and two youngest brothers. I have 5 brothers, 3 sisters-in-law, one niece, and one brand new nephew. I answered God’s call in my life when I was about 14 and was baptized at age 15. God often allows hard things in our lives, things we can’t understand. In December 2014, He chose to call my mom Home to Heaven. Although it’s not easy, it is always true when we say “God is good”. He gives me strength to trust Him when I can’t do it on my own. Through this pain, He has made me passionate about the pain in others’ lives and I want to do what I can to encour-age them to look to Jesus as their Healer. I stay busy with the work at home and working at my Grandpa’s hardware store. I enjoy animals, my niece and nephew, photography, go-carts, and 4-wheelers.”

Feedback from 2017:

- My favorite memory was probably the night we found the cross…

- Something that was very special and memorable to me was the journaling time after Saturday morning session when Judy shared her testimony. It was so beautiful as girls gathered to-gether, crying with each other and praying for each other.

- I really enjoyed the 5 days I spent at OBSESS

- My most memorable experience was probably finding the cross very stretching and challenging.

The Price What a marvelous mystery! From the beginning God knew what man would choose, and from the beginning He had a plan to buy us back. God was willing to pay the highest price to redeem His fallen creation: His own life. It doesn’t make sense, it isn’t logical, and it is the farthest from what we deserve, but such is the love and mercy of God. What did it really cost?

The Power Because of what God did, the price was paid, but it is so much more than that. We have not only been saved from sin; redeemed man now has power over sin, and death has lost its victory. Where there was bondage, there is now freedom; weakness is now strength; death is now life. In Christ we have died, and in Christ we rise up again!

The Prelude (Perfecting Process) Sin leaves wounds; some are deep and festering and leave painful scars. God intends to bring healing; no person is too hurt to be redeemed. How-ever, just as a wounded body needs time and care to recover, the spiritual man needs the care of the Great Physician. Wounds will be healed, and our ugly scars will become the beautiful reminder of the love and mercy of our God and Christ.

The Promise (Paradise Restored) The Bible is meant to tell the story of God’s interaction with man, and the theme, redemption, is evident through every book. One marvelous day this world will burn with a fervent heat to be restored into perfection, and “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him”. We will once again be completely His, just as we were made to be. This is the promise of God, and He only speaks truth.

HELPING YOUTH GET THE MOST OUT OF LIFE

OBSESS is a five day camp for girls ages 13-16, that will be held June 13th-17th, 2018, at the Pleasant View Church Camp, in Sullivan, Illinois. The week is an intense time of edification and encouragement that consists of daily initiatives, sessions, and. of course, fun. Throughout OBSESS young girls will be stretched, sometimes beyond their comfort zone, with the purpose of instilling them with a passion for God and a desire to grow in Him

It has been said that the Bible is ultimately a story; one that reveals the history of God’s redeeming work of mankind. Throughout His story, God shows how much He loves to take the ugly, broken things of this world, and make something beautiful out of them. His desire is to make ashes beautiful, break down walls, bind wounds, and set captives free. Life is given, and our communion with God is being restored to the way the Creator intended it to be.

The Plan (Paradise Created) In the beginning God created, and all He made was very good. God made everything with a purpose, and that includes mankind, the “crown of His creation”. We are made to be lovers and worshippers of God. Such is the chief end of man, the purpose for which we have been made and which we are fulfilled.

The Problem (Paradise Lost) Creation’s perfection has been lost. We turned against our created pur-pose, and instead of being lovers of God we have chosen to be lovers of self. Our denial of God leaves us trying to fill a void with worldly pleasures, and we are left empty, lonely, hopeless, and totally depraved. Fallen man will always yield to the power of sin, and will feel the sting of death.
