Dear Parishioners,

Tuesday 2 July. It was a very successful
evening. Nominations are now open for those
interested in being on the Council.
Nominations close Sunday 14 July.
Nomination forms are available in the
churches and from the Parish Office, and can
be left at the Parish Office.
Plenary Council Journey
Each week throughout July, the National Facilitation Team for the Plenary Council is
releasing a Snapshot Report for each of the 6 themes that resulted from the Listening
and Dialogue phase. A comprehensive report on all the voices of participants will be
released on July 28, 2019. During this time, we are invited to reflect on Scripture,
Church teaching and our contemporary situation in order to discern the answer to:
How is God calling us to be a Christ-centered Church? The six main themes that have
been identified are, missionary and evangelising; Inclusive, participatory and
synodal; Prayerful and Eucharistic; Humble, healing and merciful; A joyful, hope-
filled and servant community; Open to conversion, renewal and reform. Further
information is available at https://plenarycouncil.catholic.org.au.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday
This Sunday is Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday, celebrated throughout
the Catholic Church in Australia. There are over 120,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander Catholics in Australia and they are an important part of the fabric of church
life. Our schools have been celebrating this during the week, and St Joseph’s Primary
was in the news– congratulations!
The theme this year is, “Peace to this house and all who dwell within”. The Australian
Bishops highlight that this theme reminds us that “in our busy lives, we are often
bombarded with competing priorities, distractions, worries and concerns about
ourselves and others, which can cause us to forget to take the time to stop, look
around, reflect and look for our peace in our lives.” Copies of this year’s Pastoral
Statement from the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference are available at the
church entrances, or can be downloaded from
http://www.natsicc.org.au/assets/natsicc-pastoral-letter-2019-web.pdf.
School Holidays
School holidays have commenced. We wish all our staff and students a very happy
and safe break for the school holidays. Please take care, enjoy and we look forward to
seeing you in term 3.
May we all continue to experience Jesus’ unconditional love for us and our families, Fr James
