DriveMonitor
DriveMonitor, the start-up tool for drives of the
SIMOVERTMASTERDRIVES range, has undergone further developmentand
the new version V5.2 now offers many new functionsand input
screens.

Figure 1: The user is now greetedby DriveMonitor with a simple
and ex-tremely clear welcome screen. Fromhere the user can navigate
as shownto functions such as Guided initial start-up Guided
start-up
Technology functions Loading standard applications.
Figure 2:The new screens stored inthe DriveMonitor are input
screens forthe simple positioner that is included as
standard in the MASTERDRIVES MotionControl units. The simple
positioner canbe configured, operated and diagnosedquickly and
easily using the new screens.
Figure 3:The overviewdiagnostics screen can also becalled from
the welcome screen.This informs the user at aglance about active
warnings,faults, unused computing time,firmware versions,
convertertemperature, currents, voltages,etc.

what is happeningon the bus and how the bustopology is configured.
The drivecontrol panelthat is shown inthe bottom of the figure
enablesusers to control the drive fromtheir own engineering PC
through
the uniform tool interface thathas been newly integrated in the
MASTERDRIVES units.
Priority for operator control can be transferred to
theengineering PC at any time regardless of the
configuredcommunications path.
DriveMonitor is now executable on the Windows XP
operatingsystem. Apart from the free of charge stand-alone
version,it is also a permanent feature of Drive ES Basic. Where
aSIMATIC S7 is being used, Drive ES Basic can be integratedas an
option into SIMATIC STEP 7. This means that projectengineering and
start-up can be performed for the drives inthe familiar environment
of the SIMATIC automation systems(SIMATIC Manager).
With the new DriveMonitor functionalities, the engineeringoutlay
in terms of configuration, start-up and service can besignificantly
reduced!
DriveMonitor is available in English, French, German, Spanishand
Italian.
