To the Blessed Virgin Mary for May
O most august and blessed Virgin Mary! Holy Mother of God! Glorious Queen of
heaven and earth! Powerful protectress of those who love thee, and unfailing
advocate of all who invoke thee! Look down, I beseech thee, from thy throne of glory
on thy devoted child; accept the solemn offering I present thee of this month, specially dedicated to thee, and receive my ardent, humble desire, that by my love
and fervor I could worthily honor thee, who, next to God, art deserving of all honor.
Receive me, O Mother of Mercy, among thy best beloved children; extend to me thy maternal tenderness and solicitude; obtain for me a place in the Heart of Jesus, and a
special share in the gifts of His grace. O deign, I beseech thee, to recognize my
claims on thy protection, to watch over my spiritual and temporal interests, as well as those of all who are dear to me; to infuse into my soul the spirit of Christ, and to
teach me thyself to become meek, humble, charitable, patient, and submissive to the will of God.May my heart burn with the love of thy Divine Son, and of thee, His
blessed Mother, not for a month alone, but for time and eternity; may I thirst for the
promotion of His honor and thine, and contribute, as far as I can, to its extension. Receive me, O Mary, the refuge of sinners! Grant me a Mother's blessing and a
Mother's care, now, and at the hour of my death. Amen

WORLDWIDE MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER
Think of how tired, discouraged and frustrated the apostles
must have been in the Gospel reading today. Then Jesus
shows up and tells them to try one more time. Because they
were willing and obedient, Jesus blessed them abundantly. It works
the same way in our own lives today; if we trust in Jesus and do
what He tells us to do we will receive His abundant blessings!
Allow the grace of God to strengthen, renew and rekindle your
marriage relationship. The next Worldwide Marriage Encounter
Weekends are June 10-12, 2016 or August 12-14, 2016 or October
7-9, 2016, all at Elk Grove Village, IL. Early registration is highly
recommended. For reservations/information, call Jim & Kris at
630-577-0778 or contact us through http://wwme-chicagoland.org .
FEED YOUR HUNGRY NEIGHBORS
Lockport’s FISH pantry has seen an increase in the
number of people served this year. They are now caring
for 350 families, representing 1200 individuals. Our Lord
would want us to share what we have been given with the
hungry. Presently needed are canned beans, meats and fish. Also
peanut butter & jellies. Canned vegetables especially corn & green
beans. spaghetti & sauce, cereals, and pancake mix & syrup. Soaps,
bath tissue, other paper products and shampoo are also needed.
Thank you for your continued generosity. You will be blessed.
Feeding the Hungry is one of the Corporal Works of Mercy.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR CANS CAREFULLY. IF THEY ARE OUTDATED OR EXPIRING IN CURRENT MONTH,
WE HAVE TO THROW THEM AWAY. We cannot be liable for causing illnesses.
If YOU are in need, they are open
Monday, Wednesday & Fridays
from 8:30 a.m until 11:30 a.m.
604 9th Street, Lockport.
Bring 2 pieces of current mail to register.
Funeral Mass Arrangements
Upon the death of a loved one, a family member should
contact the parish office as soon as possible (815-723-3291).
You will be contacted by our bereavement coordinator,
Anna Siwiec-Sitkowska, who will assist the family in planning
the funeral liturgy for the deceased.
If it is too difficult for you to walk to the front of the
church to receive Communion, please know that at each
Mass an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion
comes to the back of the church to distribute
Communion. If you would like to have the Extraordinary
Minister give you communion in the back of church,
please let an usher know before Mass begins. At
Communion time, when you see the Extraordinary
Minister come to the back, please raise your hand so that
they can see you and give you Holy Communion.

Saint John Vianney Church is very excited to
announce we will have special visitors from
the Holy Land May 14th and 15th at all our
masses!
Hand-Carved Olive Wood Gifts from the
Holy Land
Proceeds benefit Catholic schools in the Holy Land.
There are more than 600 Christian families
living in Bethlehem and are completely
dependent on carving olive wood figurines for
their livelihood. The recent clashes in the
Middle East have stopped the tourism industry
in Bethlehem, causing most of those families
serious harm in earning their living and forcing
many of them to leave their homeland.
Emptying the land of Christ from Christians can
have tragic consequences on the Holy sites.
Issam from “Star of Bethlehem Group” came to
the United States with a mission to help those
families by selling their beautiful religious hand
crafts. The cost of goods goes to benefit the
Christian carvers to keep them working in the
spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, the
profit from sales goes directly to the needy
Catholic schools and clinics in the Holy Land.
Star of Bethlehem has been approved by many
bishops, and from diocese of Jerusalem.
