Mrs. Allen’s Class StructureHomework:I will assign homework periodically(approximately 2-3 times per month) - typically based on unit vocabulary. This will be distributed on Friday and will be due the following Friday(unless the homework is also a study guide - that is due the school day prior to the test). *Classwork that is not completed during class time should be completed at home.
Quizzes & Tests:If your student scores below 70% they may have one retake DURING SCHOLAR SEMINAR. However, participation quizzes (i.e. Kahoots) are exempt from this opportunity. Projects:I will assign one Social Studies project per quarter. This is an assessment grade, just like a quiz or test. 1st and 3rd quarter projects will be completed at school unless your student is absent. There will also be one large Science Project that will be started at school and completed at home. Grading:Grades will be based on assessments (quizzes, tests, projects), assignments (in class work, homework, etc.), and factors such as participation in group work, and maintaining agenda. If your student earns a zero on an assignment, they may see me for an alternative assignment if we are within the grading cutoff for the quarter - Bell Work is omitted from this option.
Social Studies/Science CommunicationPlease see my website for due dates - I will send out an email every few weeks with information regarding due dates for Homework, Achieve, Assessments and large projects.
We will use Canvas, Quizlet, Achieve3000 and DiscoveryEd.com.
