O ur Lady of Good Counsel Church in Aurora, Illinois, is a diverse and unified community of Christ’s disciples living our Catholic-Chris an faith through worship, fellowship and service bringing God’s transforming love to our parish and our world.
MISSION STATEMENT
Mis queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo: “Den mucho fruto” “Yo soy la vid, ustedes son las ramas. El que per-manece en mí y yo en él, ese da mucho fruto”. En esta problemática pandemia mundial, Jesús ha es-tado con nosotros. Su Iglesia en esta diócesis ha perseverado, esforzándose por mantenerse conec-tada con su gente, algunas veces de maneras úni-
cas y nuevas. La Diócesis de Rockford ha proporcionado programas y personal para ayudarles como feligreses de la Diócesis a permanecer conectados con Jesús a través de los sacramentos tanto como sea posible. Estamos orgullo-sos de los sacerdotes parroquiales y miembros de su personal quienes han sido flexibles y creativos en sus esfuerzos para mantenerse en contacto con su comuni-dad parroquial. La Diócesis continúa su esfuerzo por apoyar las parro-quias, estudiantes y padres de familia, así como a los pobres de nuestras comunidades. Por ejemplo, Carida-des Católicas apoya a nuestros hermanos y hermanas en Cristo a través de muchos programas para atender sus necesidades de comida, ropa, consejería, y ayuda de emergencia. Aquellos que reciben ayuda incluyen, refugiados, inmigrantes, madres jóvenes, niños peque-ños y adolescentes, los ancianos, y otros que se sienten aislados y han sido grandemente desafiados por la pan-demia. Otro ejemplo de conectar el pueblo a Cristo es nuestra Oficina diocesana de Educación, la cual ha proporciona-do una guía valiosa y recursos para nuestras escuelas católicas y programas de educación religiosa. Esos es-fuerzos seguramente darán fruto para el futuro de la Iglesia. Con pandemia y sin ella, en todos los años, debemos mantenernos conectados a la vid que es Jesús. My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ: “Bear Much Fruit” “I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” Throughout this disruptive global pandemic, Jesus has been with us. His Church in this diocese has persevered, striving to remain connected to its people, sometimes in new and unique ways. The Diocese of Rockford has provided programs and personnel to help you as parishioners of the diocese remain connected to Jesus through the sacraments as much as possible. We are proud of parish priests and their staff members who have been flexible and creative in their efforts to keep in touch with their parish com-munity. The diocese continues its efforts to support parishes and priests, students and parents, and the poor of our communities. For example, Catholic Charities supports our brothers and sisters in Christ through a multitude of programs to address their needs for food, clothing, counseling, and emergency assistance. Those who are helped include refugees, immigrants, young mothers, young children and teens, the elderly, and others who feel isolated and greatly challenged by the pandemic. Another example of connecting people to Christ is our Diocesan Education Office, which has provided valuable guidance and resources to our Catholic schools and reli-gious education programs. Those efforts surely will bear fruit for the future of the Church. Pandemic or not, in all years, we must remain connect-ed to the vine, which is Jesus. This annual Diocesan Appeal helps make that possible. We appreciate your kind gift in this challenging year. Be assured of my continued prayers for you that you will stay safe and healthy throughout the remainder of this pandemic, and bear good fruits of faith. HOPE FOR HAITIANS Education is the key to a brighter future for the children of poor families of rural Haiti. This Spring you can help fund the education of 150 children from a very poor part of Haiti. The 10th Annual 5K Walk/Run for Education, the “Fun Bun Run” will pay for the tuition, uniform, books, and one meal per day for 150 children for an entire year.
You can participate either On-Site or Virtually. The On-Site event is in Geneva on May 8th and welcomes competitive runners to casual walkers. Our Virtual race option runs April 27th- May 6th. Today, we celebrate “Good Shepherd Sunday” where we reflect on Jesus’ care and love of us.
In March, thanks to the OLGC parish community and our faithful contributors, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul brought the love and care of Jesus to the poor by assisting three families, providing $1,759 for utility and rent bills, etc. Thank You!

In this beautifully illustrated book the story of the nativity is told through the lens of St. Joseph. Children will come to love and appreciate St. Joseph as they learn about his role in the story of Jesus' birth. It is a wonderful book that will delight children and teach them about a great man and Saint who has not received the honor and attention that he should. The prose is enchanting and enthralling, this book is also a story and blueprint for what God calls men as hus- bands and fathers to be. It can be inspirational for a little boy as well as a little girl letting her know that she is worthy of such a man when she grows up. This book is appropriate for ages four through eight and makes a wonderful gift for children, grandchildren, and godchildren. It will be treasured and read during this year of St. Joseph and especially every Advent and Christmas season for years to come.

Beloved Mother of Good Counsel, this way we ask you to listen to the prayers placed through you before your only Son. Show yourself a mother to us, and counsel to become your true and faithful children, and may the blessing of your only Son come upon us. Amen

SACRAMENTS Baptism – Baptisms are held on Sunday in English on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month after the 10 am Mass. Baptisms are held in Spanish on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month after the 1 pm Mass. For further information call the parish office at 630-851-1100. First Communion, Confirmation & Christian Initiations of Adults - Please contact the parish of-fice 630-851-1100. Marriage - Please call the parish office at least six months prior to the intended date. Pre-Cana is required for all those entering into Matrimony. Anointing of the Sick and Communion to Shut-Ins - Please call the parish office.
