From My Heart to Yours

Sunday Night August 7th – we will observe our two ordinances. What are the ordinances?

Baptism – is the immersion of a believer in water, in the name of the Trinity, authorized by a New Testament Church, for the purpose of

showing that the person has already been saved. It pictures the salvation experience – the death and burial of the old self and the

resurrection of the new person in Christ. This comes at the beginning of the Christian life and called the “door” to local church

membership. Read Matthew 28:19, Acts 8:35-39, Romans 6:3-6.

The Lord’s Supper – is an act of worship whereby members of the church remember the death of Christ and think on His second com-

ing. The bread and the juice remind us of the broken body and the shed blood of Christ for our sins. Read Matthew 26:25-28, 1

Corinthians 11:17-29.

The service will begin at 6:0 0 p.m. It will be a special evening of worship for our church family and especially for those being baptized and their

families.

New Staff and New Members Reception following the Sunday evening worship. Plan to stay after the service Sunday evening for refreshments

and fellowship.

I am excited to welcome our new staff members:

David Kephart (Whitney, Harper and Hudson) – Interim Associate Pastor of Youth and Student Ministry. We welcome the Kepharts back

home. David and Whitney grew up at FBC and were married here. They graduated for PHS in 2005. David earned his Bachelors and Masters

degrees from Liberty University. He has served as Associate Pastor of Youth at First Baptist Ceredo WV for 4 years. He and Whitney also served

as IMB Journey Men Missionaries for 2 years. David and Whitney’s calling is to international missions. We are grateful God has placed them

here for ministry until He is ready to send them to their next international mission location. David is excited to work with our youth and our entire

church family.

LeAnn Croy (Curtis) – Interim Choir Director. LeAnn is someone who also grew up in FBC and now has returned to be used by God to lead

our adult choir. She has been working in this ministry since June and now it is official. She is doing a wonderful job with our choir as is evident

as the choir leads us in worship each Sunday through music.

Kristi Morelocke (Lee, Will and Ethan) – Nursery Coordinator. The Morelockes are relatively new members to FBC. Kristi is a 1st grade

teacher at Princeton Primary. Kristi is enthusiastic about working with our Nursery Committee and our nursery volunteer staff as they continue

our wonderful ministry to our infants and preschool children.

Homecoming and Revival – Friday August 19th- Sunday August 21st. Please pray for God to send revival. If you are available and would

like to host a member of our revival team (Dr. Bill Henard or a member of the Jason Lovins Band) please contact the church office or me.

Grace and peace,

YOUTH NEWS Hi there FBC family-

First, let me say how excited and humbled I am at the opportunity to serve you all. This is the church I grew up in, the Lord saved

me in, and the Lord grew me in. Many of you played an instrumental role in the early stages of my spiritual growth. For that, I’ll

be eternally thankful.

In this opening article, let me give you the purpose and goal of our student ministry at FBC and some important dates. The pur-

pose and goal of the student ministry is:

to Proclaim, the Gospel of Jesus to students and their families

to be a Presence of grace and truth to our schools and community

To Prepare students to live out Gospel truth for the glory of God and the good of the church

Those three things-Proclaim,, Presence, Prepare-will be our aim in everything. Pray for that.

Lastly, here are a few important dates:

August 10th - Back to School Party at the church

August 14th - State Fair (cost is $32)

August 19-21st - Church Revival with Jason Lovins Band and Dr. Henard

In Christ alone,

David
