A proper consideration <>l legislation i nut possible, «’ither. when motions anil new motions are presente«! in sindi abnndun e th a t members find themselves in the pu 1- tion of not being able to follow them without a elarificatiun from the speaker.

Over twenty m inutes of this parliam entary m aneuvering occurreil last \\ ednesosy night, on an attem pt to bring the library checkout Epsolution out of the Organisations committee.

DURING this m aneuvering it also became apparent that the Organizations rom m itlee lisa no organization of its own. One member told congress the com m ittee had decided to report th i’ resolution out favorably, and a- nother member said they had «Uxlded to re tu rn an unfavorable report.

One committee member said he and ot : r members bad visited the library and discovered that the library had a new plan in mind already. How they could have discovered this without tnlkinv to the director ot t ! " library is extremely difficult to see.

The summary given by out- e«<nimill«a' member that ‘‘the eommittee. is in turmoil <eems like an understatem ent. However, to say this “ turm oil" is fqnfirted to one comm ittee would be ra th e r inaccurate.

THIS YEAR’S chest drive was to include a door to door solicitation in all the dorm itories, It now appeors, though, that th is will not be possible in several bf the dorm itories he- «•anse dorm constitutions prohibits door to door soliciting.

W ith th e drive scheduled to begin 1>' a l i t t l e over two weeks, we can’t help bu t wonder why this m a tte r had not come to emigres «’ atten tion before.

The point was made by one congress mem- ber that at a recent student-fneulty resource board m eeting, several student members «if tin com m ittee did not have the information available to keep the discussion moving at all times. I this the foresight that, m arks a iniod legislative body?

I'OR SEVERAL members at least, the high point oi last Wedm -day's meeting was a two and a half miniito farce over a motion to roco -■ for five mimdes.

Thi ' must have been tho evening's fun for tin- o hieh s p i r i te d members, for they' clev- «*rlv v o te d “yes,'' “no,” and abstained on th<’ same voice vote,

I; j : |,ii ¡ktle. however, that tin1 meeting wa* not a: pathetic as it might have been bad all the members been present.
