• This scene (0.19) has been well edited and carefully selected. The scene shows to people walking out of something that looks like a cinema, and water spraying from the ground. The whole song is all about the weather, and this scene (just by looking at the picture not the actual video) looks like it’s actually raining.

• The filming of this scene has been well done. It has been taken at a low angle making the sprays of water look like rain. Rain is a weather that people consider romantic. And in the image, there is a man and a woman. This could suggest that they’re a couple in love who have come to see a movie. But vice-versa, the black and white filter could suggest something else about their relationship. It could suggest that this scene is a memory (something that happened in the past) or that the relationship between them is dark, however that doesn’t clarify why they’d come to watch a movie together.

• The editing of the scene is good too. It’s a fast beat song, therefore we don't see much of this scene, but the editing and the filters go well with the song.

I will be analysing each frame based on what is shown on the screenshot rather than talking a lot about the actual music video - I will be referring to the video

though.

• Within this scene, we see a girl standing near a window, which looks like she’s enjoying the sunlight. in the previous shot, we saw rain, and now we see summer. This implies that throughout the music video, we are likely to see many different forms of weather. The lighting is quite dark as the only lighting used is from the window. From the screenshot, we don’t actually get to see the girl’s clothing but within the video, the is the first time the girl is introduced.

• This scene has also been shot in a low angle mainly to show the girl fully and to see the sunlight coming from the window.

• Here, we see the four guys driving in the car, clearly enjoying themselves. Then we see a sort of bridge, more cars on a road similar to a motorway, and tall trees with less leaves (looks like a palm tree). From the lens flare and the roofless car, I can assume that its very sunny within this scene. The hot weather is presumed to mean happiness and is also considered romantic. Also as shown in the music video, the boys in the car are smiling.

• Here, we are introduced to the actual singer, singing the song whilst sitting beside a girl, who I’m assuming is the same girl we saw standing near the window. After seeing the singer, we automatically understand what’s going on in the music video. This is the singer, and he’s singing a song about the weather and how he wants to spend time with his ‘girl’ at home instead of going out.

• The scene was shot at a sort of low-mid angle done to show us the couple and their surroundings.

• The editing of this scene wasn’t too fast paced compared to the other quick cut shots. This scene was edited slower than the others so we can actually see the singer and where he is, what he’s doing, etc.

• In this scene, we see the girl lying down on a sofa. From her facial expressions we can see that she’s tired and is maybe waiting for someone. She’s in a supposed dark room with the sunlight ‘hitting’ her face.

• This part of the music video goes a bit slower, just like it is when the singer is shown. This shows that she is as important to the singer compared to the other four boys we see within the

• Here, we see the boys upside down and their journey being rewinded. From this, we can assume that their journey of good weather and happiness was limited and now they have to go back- things going back to normal.

• The editing in this scene is quite fast, going back to the point of the scene being rewinded. Whenever the boys where shown within this video, they were shown on a fast pace. So their faces weren’t held on screen for a longer time - shows they’re not that important. I think they’re just part of the public in California and were shown as general public enjoying the weather whereas the singer staying inside with the love of his life.

• Goodwin’s theory mainly says that music genre’s have their own styles and iconography. He believes that music is a relationship between either illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the lyrics.

• The song I chose is an alternative rock song and it has a different way of showing it. Many rock songs show the artists playing the song then a bit of the narrative then back to the artists. It normally show people who are classified as “Emo’s” and wear black. Like Goodwin says about the lyrics, the narrative is shown matching the lyrics. However the Sweater Weather shows the artist singing, him busy in his own world, then to the people of California who are actually enjoying the hot weather.
