Our priority has been to erradicate poverty: 1 million 50 thousand Ecuadorians ceased to be poor between 2006 and 2012.

More Basic Servicesin the Countryside
Between 2006 and 2012:
If all homes had access to services and good housing conditions, structural poverty would be reduced in half. Co-responsibility of decentralized autonomous governments is required.
We increased access to excreta disposal services (from 66% to 81%)
The percentage of homes with solid waste disposal increased (from 23% to 39%).
Overcrowding was reduced (from 26% to 14%).

Ecuador has become one of the major tourist destinations in the world.
“Paja Toquilla (Straw)” weaving has been declared a World Cultural Heritage.
Every 12 days, an Ecuadorian fi lm has received an award in festivals around the world; 30 awards in 2012.
Before there were 18 thousand registered heritage assets. Now we have more than 60 thousand.
