AVID 6:
● This is a three year course designed to support students who are seeking college preparatory experience
● AVID prepares students for success in high school and eligibility for four-year colleges and universities
** Application and interview is required

Drama 6:
● Semester long● This a beginner's level class and
is designed for the new and growing actors
● Improvisation, performance, memorization, and writing will be required
Art 6:
● Semester long● Students will explore various art
mediums including drawing, painting, and sculpture

Technology 6: Semester long
● Students are given opportunities to explore a variety of applications, techniques and STEAM applied skills.
● Students will engage in basic computer skills, such as keyboarding, word processing, saving documents, and taking screenshots.
● Students will have the opportunity to learn about 3D printing, graphics, robotics, mixed media, and other possibilities.
● Students will have the opportunity to work in individual, small group and large group Project-Based Learning.
Robotics 6: Semester long
● Students will explore engineering and programming through NTX Lego Mindstorm
● Students will learn teamwork, the basics of robotics, engineering and programming concepts
Technology & Robotics
Physical Education 6: Semester long
● Students will participate in team and individual sports (flag football, basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, badminton, lacrosse, softball, soccer, pickleball and fitness activities).
● Colorado State Standards for Physical Education, which include movement and skill development, fitness, knowledge needed for games and activities, prevention and risk management.
Health 6: Semester long
● Health education builds students' knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes about health.
● Students will learn about physical, mental/emotional and social health. This class motivates students to improve and maintain their health, prevent disease, and reduce risky behaviors.

Band 6 (Beginning): Semester long
● Students will learn to read music and play a flute, clarinet, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, or tuba. We will also perform an evening concert at the end of the semester and learn about how to continue in band in the future at Prairie and Overland.
Strings 6 (Beginning Orchestra): Semester long
● Students will learn to read music and play a violin, viola, cello, or bass. We will also perform an evening concert at the end of the semester and learn about how to continue in strings in the future at Prairie and Overland.
Music 6: Semester long
● Students will receive instruction in music and will practice: guitar, bass, drums, percussion and keyboards
Choir 6: Semester long
● Students will learn how to sing with proper vocal production, learn how to read music, and perform a variety of choral music in an evening concert each quarter.

Exploratory Spanish:
● Semester long ● Students will explore the Spanish language by learning basic skills
to communicate in a foreign language ● Students will learn introductory phrases, vocabulary, concepts, and
a variety of Hispanic culture

Students will start the day in a homeroom period (about 15 min)
Students will attend 4 core classes that are 55 minutes each
Students will have two electives each day that are about 45 minutes each
Students will have a 35-minute advisory class daily that will assist them with their study skills and extra academic support

● Students are recommended for this class by their 5th grade teacher and a body of evidence

● Students will study the Western Hemisphere ● They will study geography, history, government, and
economics of the region● Students will develop skills in determining cause and effect,
differentiating between primary and secondary sources, drawing conclusions, and summarizing
