Violin Violin is the smallest and highest of the string instruments. Violins read treble clef notes like recorder or the right hand of piano music. It is the only instrument with a high E string.

Did you know? You don’t have to be big to play a big instrument like a cello or a bass! All string instruments are made in a variety of smaller sizes to fit students who are still growing. J

Playing a string instrument is a wonderful choice for any student wanting to pursue a unique musical experience. String instruments have been around since the 16th century and their popularity continues to grow. As a 5th grader, you can participate in the 5th Grade Strings Program. No experience is necessary. In Dublin, we teach 4 types of string instruments:

OrchestraInstruments!

Viola Viola is like the “big brother” or “big sister” of the violin. It has lower strings for a deeper, more mellow sound. A big strong viola section gives the orchestra a rich, full tone.

Cello The Cello is larger than violin or viola, so cello players always play sitting down. Cello is considered the instrument that sounds closest to the human voice and often plays cool melodies in orchestra music.

Bass The largest and lowest of the string instruments, the Bass has the same strings as bass guitar and provides a solid foundation for the rest of the orchestra to build on.

JOIN THE ORCHESTRA!

Orchestra instruments are available in a variety of sizes to fit smaller hands.
