PDM & FC
Description
Patrol Drone provides remote monitoring
of areas of interest. Moving itself quickly
to a designated point and delivering high
quality images to the specialist team, it
can help with early situational
assessment and pre-planning before a
team even arrives. Patrol Drones have
fast travel capability, above average
flight autonomy, and allow for routine
missions or dynamic control by an
operator. In addition, they are capable of
transmitting high resolution real time
images by 5G links.
Main applications
• Remote monitoring of areas of
interest.
• Early situational assessment in many
situations (accident, riots, risks,etc).
• Overseeing regions to assure
vigilance.
• In the case of a large area, drones can
be used as relays of communication.
• Drones can automatically be
positioned with respect to the
monitoring requirements and ground
forces location.

VR Gladiator
VR Gladiators is a game played using
virtual reality equipment, where each
player moves the motion controllers to
simulate character’s arms movement. In
the headset is presented the virtual
environment that, together with sensors
that detect hand’s position, give more
realism to the scene, providing enhanced
user experience and perception. The
agility between the players is assured by
5G technology, which allows on time
reaction inside the game.
Main applications
• Real time combat between players.
• Enhanced game experience.
• High immersion game perception.

5GOpenclasses
Description
Our goal is to develop an online
teaching-facility and a Quality of
Experience (QoE) process.
The Android app will allow the end-users
to view live streams of the class
sessions, videos from a repository and to
chat with their colleagues.
These functionalities will require suitable
conditions to test the 5G enhanced
Mobile Broadband use case.
Selected inputs for the QoE evaluation:
comments and rating from the users.
Main applications
• IT-based training.
• Classes monitoring.
• Mobile App QoE monitoring.

5G Signal Sensing
Description
The fifth generation introduces a new
form of radio management, allowing a
more efficient allocation of the bandwidth
available to the users.
This demonstration aims to show at the
spectrum level how this management is
performed. To do this, the spectrum of
the 5G communications taking place at
the stand area will be presented.
Main applications
• Identification of 5G channels in the
analyzed spectrum.
• Estimation of transmitted and received
power.
• Auxiliary tool in coverage tests.
• Spectrum interference detection.
• Logging of 5G transmissions for later
analysis in a centralized system.

5G Mobile over NG-PON 2
Description
To support eMBB services of the 5G,
next generation passive optical network
stage offers great enhancement for the
delivery of 5G signals in co-existence
with other traffics at high data rate at the
customer premises equipment (CPE) in
ultra-dense network scenerio.
In this work, NG-PON 2 fronthaul is
integrated with the 5G testbed developed
in IT to transport heterogenous mobile
signals with the aid of software defined
radio (SDR) which is powered by
openairinterface (OAI), open source
platform to depict the forementioned
scenerio in an abstract setup.
Main applications
• High date rate provsioning at the CPE.
• Testbed to foster mobile network
research activities.

Virtual CPE
(Customer Premises Equipment)
Description
Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) is
a device located in the telecom operators
customer premises (home or office).
Currently, CPEs have strong flexibility
limitations, with long development cycles
and limited support for new services due
to being tightly coupled to the hardware.
Overall device management is extremely
complex due to the large number of
different devices hardware and firmware
spread across telco clients.
The virtualization and relocation of this
device’s functions will allow the
replacement of customer equipment with
simplified and more general hardware
and the deployment of flexible cloud-
based services to customers
Main applications
• Streamlined and agile service design,
deployment and management
• Providing flexible cloud-based services
to customers
• Improved management by reducing
the amount of CPE software versions
across deployed devices
• Using common CPE hardware (uCPE)
to support multiple services and
scenarios
• Providing sophisticated services using
simple and inexpensive CPEs at scale

Smart-Healing
Description
Overhead medium voltage power
distribution grids are prone to
unexpected faults. In such cases, it is
mandatory to automatically clear the
electrical fault for protecting the integrity
of the entire electric system. Fault
clearance can be done by an Intelligent
Electronic Device (IED) that temporarily
opens the closest upstream circuit
breaker. IEC61850 RGOOSE messages
are exchanged between IEDs in order to
ensure selectivity. To ensure the viability
of this coordination, such messages
must reach other upstream IEDs as fast
as possible, ideally in few milliseconds.
Main applications
• Protection coordination;
• Automatic grid reconfiguration;
