    PROJECT DESCRIPTION

    The project is designed to achieve integral cycle switching, a ethod to reove

    whole cycle, cycles or portions o! cycles o! an "C signal# It is a well$%nown and

    old ethod o! controlling "C power, especially across linear loads s&ch as heaters

    &sed in electric !&rnace#

    'owever the concept o! achieving the cycle stealing o! voltage wave!or (y &se o! 

    icrocontroller can (e very precise as per the progra written in asse(ly ) C

    lang&age so that the act&al tie$average voltage or c&rrent e*perienced at the load

    is proportionately lower than the whole signal i! applied to the load#

    In place o! a linear load to (e &sed in the o&tp&t, a series otor or lap can (e

    &sed to veri!y the o&tp&t# One side e!!ect o! &tili+ing this schee is an i(alance in

    the inp&t c&rrent or voltage wave!or as the cycles are switched on and o!! acrossthe load#

    In this project we are &sing coparator !or +ero crossing detection which is !ed as

    an interr&pt to icrocontroller o! -./ !aily# 'ere the icrocontroller delivers

    the o&tp&t (ased on the interr&pt received as the re!erence !or generating triggering

     p&lses#

    0sing these p&lses, we drive the opto$isolators !or triggering the TRI"C to achieveintegral cycle control as per the inp&t switches inter!aced to the icrocontroller# "

    lap is provided in this project in place o! a otor !or deonstration p&rpose#
