They trailed the holders 0-8 to 0-1 after 35 minutes, but clawed their way back to lose by three (0-11 to 0-8) in the end as Tipp kept on course for an historic three-in-a-row. “We just never got into a rhythm. We didn’t turn up at all in the first-half. We were very flat and Tipp had a platform at midfield to attack us. “I thought the lads battled back as best they could, but Tipp are a well-organised and phys- ically a huge side. “We thought we had big players, but Tipp were ab- solutely massive,” he said. Fitzgerald offered no ex- cuses as Cork’s season came to an end. “The better team won on the night. Their three points just after half-time gave them a cushion,” he declared. More: Page 53. O’Driscoll signs on for another year THE IRFU today announced a new one-year contract with Brian O'Driscoll, which will see him remain available to play for Ireland and Leinster until the end of June 2014. O’Driscoll paid tribute to the IRFU for giving him the time to decide his future. “I want to thank the IRFU and Leinster for allowing me the time to think about my future and discuss my options with my family,” said the star centre. “The support my family and the Irish and Leinster fans have shown me over the past few months, and indeed years, has been phenom- enal, and I am now very much looking forward to one more year playing with Ireland and Leinster.” The decision has been wel- comed by Irish boss Joe Schmidt. “It's great that Brian has agreed to continue playing. He's an inspir- ational player, not only on the pitch, but also on the training ground,” said Schmidt. “He's played well again this season and other players continue to learn from him. I know that every squad of which he is a part will profit from his qualities both as a rugby player and a person.” BROOKS TIMBER & BUILDINGS SUPPLIES LTD.
