ALUMINUM AND STAINLESS STEEL CORROSION IN ETHANOL AND KOH SOLUTIONS 73

ear polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopymeasurements.

    2. Experimental procedure

    2.1. Materials

Pure aluminum (99.99%) and 316L stainless steel (18-Cr, 10-Ni, 3-Mo, Fe-bal), both obtained from Goodfellow MaterialsLtd, were used. The materials were obtained in rods of 6 mmin diameter (cross sectional area: 0.28 cm 2 ). The ethoxidewas prepared using reagent grade ethanol anhydrous (EtOH)and potassium hydroxide (KOH).

    2.2. Electrochemical measurements

The electrochemical measurements were performed with apotentiostate-galvanostate (Gamry PC14-300 Instruments,

Aluminum and stainless steel wereused as the working electrodes. The metallic samples weremounted in epoxy resin with an exposed cross section.
