The single most powerful experience you can have volunteering is with Jumpstart. 2013-2014 Team Leader, The folks that make Jumpstart move, Team Leaders manage and coach teams of Corps members, plan and implement Jumpstart sessions and facilitate meetings. 2013-2014 Volunteer Coordinator, for those who Like people and wouldn’t mind to recruit, train, and manage volunteers for short and long-term service projects. Jumpstart is also accepting immediate interviews for the following positions: 2013-2014 Office Assistants, who Assist staff with planning, organizing, and day-to-day tasks at Jumpstart’s local offices. Join our Volunteer Core, your leadership is needed now more than ever. If you are interested, contact Edward Marti Kring (Development and community affairs coordinator) at [email protected]. Include in the subject line of your email: “Volunteer Core”. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: ADULT BASIC READING AND MATH TUTOR TRAINING WORKSHOP Are you interested in helping someone improve their literacy skills, doing something that benefits your community, forming new friendships and connections, and becoming part of a great volunteer program? If yes, then become a Volunteer Tutor with Literacy Volunteers of Leon County! The next adult literacy tutor training will take place on the following dates (all sessions are required): Tuesday, June 11 th , 6:00 – 8:30pm, Thursday, June 13 th , 6:00 – 8:30pm, and Saturday, June 15 th , 10:00 – 4:00pm. All sessions take place in the Literacy Classroom, the 3 rd floor of the Collins Main Library, located at 200 West Park Avenue. To register for this training or to get more information, please contact Literacy Volunteers of Leon County at (850) 606 2644 or [email protected] HELP TALLAHASSEE RESIDENTS ACHIEVE THE DREAM OF OWNING A HOME The Tallahassee Lenders' Consortium is a local nonprofit organization that helps low to moderate-income families achieve the dream of home ownership. The organization will be hosting an event as part of NeighborWorks Week called Neighborhood Day: Celebrating Community Pride on June 1st from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at Jack McLean Park (700 Paul Russell Rd, Tallahassee, FL). The purpose of the event is to provide a fun, interactive, community development opportunity to area residents, while helping TLC glean information through surveys on the current state of the "sense of the community" in the neighborhood. The event will have a local DJ, food and beverages, and activities for kids. Volunteers are needed to serve food and beverages, supervise the activity stations, and provide a unique skill (Circus acts, face painting, etc.) Any help would be greatly appreciated! NIMS MIDDLE SCHOOL EXTENDED DAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED The 21st Century Community Learning Center Extended Day Program provides expanded academic enrichment opportunities for children to meet local and state academic standards in subjects such as reading, math, and science. The goal of the “Follow Me to College” program is to provide assistance, enrichment and recreational activities which will help the students meet their goals in and out of the classroom. We strive to maintain a learning environment that is fun and conducive to learning. Volunteers are needed to assist with various activities including, mentoring, recreation, and teaching special skills like step/dance to the children in the afterschool program. NONPROFIT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Do you want to make a lasting contribution to a local nonprofit while earning 6 or 12 elective credits? The Center for Leadership and Social Change is now accepting applications for the Fall 2013 Nonprofit Internship Program. This competitive program is designed to give students the opportunity to work half-time or full- time in the community and develop professional skills while earning credit. Previous interns have worked in: child development, juvenile justice, health services, homelessness, hunger, environment, government and more. Applications are due by July 12 th .
