50TH NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK CELEBRATIONS

(14th – 20th November, 2017)

DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARY & INFORMATION SCIENCE INAUGURAL SESSION – 14TH NOVEMBER, 2017

National Library Week was celebrated by the Department of Library &

Information Science, KBN College from 14th November, 2017 to 20th November,

2017. The Programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. G. V.

Poornachand, General Secretary, Krishna District Writer’s Association at 10.30

am in the Library Reading Room.

The Chief Guest in this speech stressed on the importance of Library in

shaping the career of the students. Competitions were conducted to Intermediate,

Degree, PG and School Students in Essay Writing, Spell Out, Elocution, Quiz &

Paper Presentation.

The Valedictory Session was held on 20th November, 2017 at 5.00 PM. Dr.

Raavi Sarada was the Chief Guest. Sri T. Veeraiah Gupta, Treasurer, KBN

College was the Guest of Honour.

The Chief Guest in her message said that when we read, we learn

new words, literary language, we enrich our own vocabulary and we gain

knowledge about our surroundings, different peoples and their culture, nature,

history etc. She also told this kind of knowledge helps us to better understanding

of the world around us. The Valedictory session was presided by Principal Dr.

V. Narayana Rao, Sri J. Panduranga Rao, Director, Academics & Planning,

Librarian, V. Thirupathi Rao. Prizes were distributed to the winners in the

competitions by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries present on this occasion.
