Mr. Know-it-all alleges more: Does Allah forgive shirk? This is the worst sin and Allah can't

really decide if he will ever forgive it or not. No [4:48, 116], Yes [4:153, 25:68-71]. AndAbraham committed this sin of polytheism as he takes moon, sun, stars to be his Lord [6:76-78] and still Muslims believe that all prophets are without any sin.

Our learned Mr. Know-it-all is actually confessing on our behalf, on behalf of Muslims, thatthe Khaleel-ullah was a polytheist; he is trying to use Quran to show us that the commonfather of Christians, Jews and Muslims was a polytheist! Ooh Boy!!! Even after readingQuran, did he not see the plain truth the Quran is showing him the light to the way ofGod? I recommend he reads Mathews 13:13 immediately.

Ok, let me show ourMr. Know-it-all, one of the Pauline flocks question on the Prophet

Abraham AS, also see my paper The curious Pauline flock.Pauline flocks questions me: Why do Muslim calls Abraham a Muslim and a friend of God?Do we not know Islam started with Mohammed?

I replied: It is a pity that most of the Pauline flocks do not understand the meaning of thewords Islam and Muslim, I noted that they dont even feel the difference of the two terms.Islam literally means Submission of ones will to God, Muslim is a person who submits hiswill to God. Abraham never revolted against his God; instead he always submittedhis will to his God. Allah [God] clarifies this in the Noble Quran thus: 02:135. And they say,"Be Jews or Christians, then you will be guided." Say (to them, O Muhammad Peace be

upon him ), "Nay, (We follow) only the religion of Ibrhim (Abraham), Hanifa [IslmicMonotheism, i.e. to worship none but Allh (Alone)], and he was not ofAl-Mushrikn(thosewho worshipped others along with Allh)."

We [Muslims] call him the friend of God, because he was, Quran clarifies it thus: 04:125.And who can be better in religion than one who submits his face (himself) to Allh (i.e.follows Allh's Religion of Islmic Monotheism); and he is a Muhsin (a good-doer). Andfollows the religion of Ibrhim (Abraham) Hanifa (Islmic Monotheism - to worship none butAllh Alone). And Allh did take Ibrhim (Abraham) as aKhalil(friend).

However, it is interesting to read the bible on this friend of God. RSV James, Chapter 2 verse22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works,[23] and the scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it wasreckoned to him as righteousness"; and he was called thefriend of God. [24] You see that aman is justified by works and not by faith alone

My cross question to our learned Mr. Know-it-all is, can this friend of God betray God bydoing polytheism in any way? Reasonable headed answer is an absolute NO! Let us seewhat ourMr. Know-it-all has quoted from Quran in his absurdities [Allegations]. The beloware the verses our learned friend Mr. Know-it-all lists, Please read on:

An-Nis' 04: 48. Verily, Allh forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets uppartners with Allh in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin.

An-Nis' 04: 116. Verily! Allh forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners in worship with

Him, but He forgives whom he pleases sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners inworship with Allh, has indeed strayed far away.

So ourMr. Know-it-all has actually shown us the verse that came to us, the generationsafter Musa AS. However, ourMr. Know-it-all Now refers to the verses in the past [tense]where God Almighty had forgiven people after taking a covenant from them. Now, let us seethe second phase of what ourMr. Know-it-all quotes. Please read carefully.

An-Nis' 04:153. The people of the Scripture (Jews) ask you to cause a book to descendupon them from heaven. Indeed they asked Msa (Moses) for even greater than that, whenthey said: "Show us Allh in public," but they were struck with thunder clap and lightning for

their wickedness. Then they worshipped the calf even after clear proofs, evidences, andsigns had come to them. (Even) so We forgave them. And We gave Msa (Moses) a clearproof of authority.

Now, we all Muslims clearly see what it means by the words And We gave Msa (Moses) aclear proof of authority. So God forgave them out of his own mercy, does it not helpsMuslims to sometimes read allegations of people like ourMr. Know-it-all?? Yes it does!

Let us see what ourMr. Know-it-all?? quotes more:

Noble Quran, Surah 25 Al-Furqn verse 67. And those, who, when they spend, are neitherextravagant nor niggardly, but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes).

Noble Quran, Surah 25. Al-Furqn verse 68. And those who invoke not any other ilh (god)along with Allh, nor kill such life as Allh has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commitillegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment.

    Noble Quran, Surah 25. Al-Furqn verse 69 The torment will be doubled to him on the Dayof Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace;

Noble Quran, Surah 25. Al-Furqn verse 70 Except those who repent and believe (in IslmicMonotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allh will change their sins into gooddeeds, and Allh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Noble Quran, Surah 25. Al-Furqn verse 71 And whosoever repents and does righteousgood deeds, then verily, he repents towards Allh with true repentance.

Noble Quran here clarifies for the Mushriks [Like our Pauline Polytheists] that they still havea chance to repent, that only means if the Mushriks repent they will be forgiven, Is not Allahs.w.t most merciful? If he [Mushrik] dies in his shirk then the gates of the pardon are closed. So why not repent and be a true submitter to Allah s.w.t when you are still alive and makemost of what this life is meant for.

After clearing our learned Mr. Know-it-all doubt, let us proceed ahead and see what more

    he has:

Noble Quran, Surah 6.Al-An'm verse 75. Thus did we show Ibrhim (Abraham) the

kingdom of the heavens and the earth that he be one of those who have Faith with certainty.Noble Quran, Surah 6 Al-An'm. verse 76. When the night covered him over with darknesshe saw a star. He said: "This is my lord." But when it set, he said: "I like not those that set."

Noble Quran, Surah 6. Al-An'm. verse 77.. When he saw the moon rising up, he said: "Thisis my lord." But when it set, he said: "Unless my Lord guides me, I shall surely be among theerring people."

Noble Quran, Surah 6. Al-An'm. verse 78.. When he saw the sun rising up, he said: "This ismy lord. This is greater." But when it set, he said: "O my people! I am indeed free from allthat you join as partners in worship with Allh.

Noble Quran, Surah 6. Al-An'm. verse 79.. Verily, I have turned my face towards Him Whohas created the heavens and the earth Hanifa (Islmic Monotheism, i.e. worshipping nonebut Allh Alone) and I am not of Al-Mushrikn (see V.2:105)".

Noble Quran, Surah 6. Al-An'm. verse 80.. His people disputed with him. He said: "Do youdispute with me concerning Allh while He has guided me, and I fear not those whom youassociate with Allh in worship. (Nothing can happen to me) except when my Lord (Allh)wills something. My Lord comprehends in His Knowledge all things. Will you not thenremember?

So we see that God Almighty is telling us how Abraham [] reasoned out the truth ofhis God, the truth of his friend Allah s.w.t. Our learned Mr. Know-it-all does not seem to seehow God guided his friend and shows us the way to reason the truth?

Abraham's [] actions were shown like a parable for the benefit of his people, theworshippers of planets, in order to get them to thinking about what they were worshippingand realize the fallacy of their actions. This is made clear from the proceeding two verses of74-75 which clearly state that not only was prophet Abraham () already worshippingGod and reproaching his father for worshipping his people's planet-idols, but God hadalready shown Abraham () such signs in heaven and in earth as to establish his faithwith certainty. Only after confirming these two facts do the verses of 76 onwards begin todescribe how he used his wisdom to think up this ruse in order to draw his people towardsthe same truth which he had been guided to. And yes, Mr. Know-it-all we all Muslims doinsist that all the prophets are unerring in their preachings.

How confident would you be with a prophet who told you "God want's you to give away all ofyour belongings" and then after you have done so comes a little later on and says "oops, Imade a mistake. That was not really necessary" What if he said: "God commands that yougo to war," then after many of them die in battle he says "Oops, God did not really want that,"etc. God does not make mistakes, and He protects His messengers from delivering incorrectmessages or ever erring in their preaching or belief.

As for shirk, or polytheism, God does not forgive it if a person dies upon it, however, He may

or may not, at His discretion, forgive all other sins which a person dies upon. Nevertheless, even polytheism is forgiven those who repent before their death.

This is explained in sufficient detail below and in the various hadiths of the prophet such asthe one narrated by Anas [] in the Musnad[] of Al-Hafid Abu-Bakr[], or the one narrated by Abu-Tharr in Musnad Ahmad, or the one by Jabir in the musnadof Al-Hafid abu-Yala .], or the one narrated by ibn Abbas by way of Al-Tabari, etc]all of which explain that the boundary condition, or requirement for shirk to be forgiven is forthe person to repent before death, otherwise even though he may be forgiven all other sinswhich he did not repent from before his death, still, his polytheism shall not be forgiven him ifhe died upon it. This is also held out by the very examples presented by the author of this

    list.

For example Mr. Know-it-all presents the example of the Jews who worshipped the calf butwere forgiven their polytheism in 4:153. But why was their polytheism forgiven them? Thereason for this, as stated above, is that they had already repented from this sin before theirdeath and had not died upon it, as seen for example in Al-Aara f(7):149.

Actually, Al-Furqan (25):68-71 itself expressly spells out this boundary condition in nouncertain terms. He has managed to read in these verses the promise of God that He shallforgive this sin, however, he has not chosen to read the condition which Allah has presentedfor forgiveness of this sin. This condition is so critical that it is repeated twice in these verses.

Once in verse 70 and then in verse 71 it is repeated again in detail and spelled out quiteclearly. Indeed, ibn Juraij [] narrated upon the authority of the Companion ibnAbbas [] that these very verses were revealed by God with regard to a tribe of menwho had spent their lives in idol worship and adultery.

When they asked prophet Muhammad () whether it was possible for them torepent after their lifetime of polytheism, this is when God revealed to them these verses, from68 onwards, informing them that repentance before death can even erase polytheism. Aftermentioning polytheism as a sin worthy of hellfire the verses then go on to say: "..and he (thesinner) will abide therein (hellfire) disgraced, EXCEPT those who repent, believe (in Islam),and did righteous deeds, for those Allah will change their sins to good deeds, and Allah is

Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And whosoever repents and does good deeds, then verily, herepents towards Allah with a sincere repentance."

God also says in this regard in Taha (20):82 "And indeed I excel in forgiveness towards hewho repents, believes (in Islam), does righteous deeds, then is guided."

In Al-Nissa(4):110 we read "And he who commits evil or is unjust against himself but thenseeks God's forgiveness, He will find God Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

So what is meant by a man "being unjust against himself"? To learn the answer we need toread Lukman(31):13: "And (remember) when Lukman said to his son when he was advising

him: 'O my son! Join not partners with Allah in worship. Verily, joining partners in worshipwith Allah is a great injustice indeed!"

All Muslims are required to explain the Qur'an using the Qur'an itself or else the explanation

of the verse which was given to us by the Prophet Muhammad (). So if we goto the book "Sahih Al-Bukhari" we will find that the prophet () is quoted in anumber of his Hadeeth teaching us the above concept. For example:

The verses of Al-Anaam(6):82 says: "Those who believed and did not clothe their belief ininjustice, for them shall be security and they are [rightly] guided,"

The Prophet's Companion Abdullah [] narrated that when the Companions firstheard this verse they began to fear for themselves (since none of them were perfecthumans) and they asked the Prophet () 'Who among us has not been unjust againsthimself?" The Prophet () replied "It is not as you think. Do you not read: 'Verily,

joining partners in worship with Allah is a great injustice indeed!' (Lukman31:13)?From these verses we see that the greatest injustice is associating partners with God inworship, since it attempts to refuse God His foremost right and results in severe retributionfrom Him. However, the God of Islam as not only Just, however He also excels in mercysuch that not only does He forgive all regular sins at His discretion even if the person did notrepent before death, however, He even forgives the most major sins if the stated condition of"repenting and seeking God's forgiveness before death" is fulfilled. This is all verified in theHadeeth of the prophet () many times, for example:

    1) Jabir narrated [] in Sahih Muslim:

"A man came to the prophet () and asked, what are the 'mujibatan'(twocompulsaries)?. The prophet replied: 'He who dies not associating partners with Allah shallenter Heaven and he who dies associating partners with Allah shall enter Hellfire'"

    2) Jabir [] also narrated:

"I heard the prophet () saying: 'He who meets Allah not associating partnerswith Him shall enter heaven and he who meets Him associating partners with Him shall enterHellfire.'"

    3) The scholar of the Qur'an and Companion of the prophet Abdullah ibn Masoor []

    said:

"The Prophet () said: 'He who dies while associating partners with Allah shallenter Hellfire' and I say, He who dies not associating partners with Allah shall enter Heaven."Narrated by Al-Bukhari.

Anas ibn Malik :] the following]]narrated in Mishkat Al-Masabih]

"Allah's Messenger () stated that Allah said, "O Son of Adam, as long as yousupplicate to Me and have hope in me I will pardon you in spite of what you have done, and Ido not care. O Son of Adam, if your sins were so numerous as to reach the lofty regions of

the sky, then you asked My forgiveness, I would forgive you, and I do not care. O Son ofAdam, if you were to meet Me with enough sins to fill the earth, then met Me, not associatinganything with Me (in worship), I shall greet you with its equivalent in forgiveness.'" Narrated
