2012 Impact. Period. From Atlanta to Andhra Pradesh, thank you for partnering with 50 Cents. Period. Because of you, the past year was filled with tremendous growth for our organization both at home and abroad. Through your generosity, we were able to partner with new schools in India and Nepal, to conduct field studies and implement a pilot program in Nicaragua, and to develop our Period at Home program to include The Women’s Circle, a day-long reproductive and preventative health workshop for newly arrived refugee women. In total, your partnership provided reproductive health education to 400 girls in rural India, allowed 1600 people to have access to clean drinking water, gave 772 women and girls sanitary products, and educated 71 refugee women on basic reproductive health and linkages to care. Two of our water projects came in under budget, allowing our field partners to use the overage of unrestricted funds to provide school bags and supplies for 300 children in scheduled tribes districts of Andhra Pradesh, India, and to provide 20 bicycles to rural girls walking more than ten kilometers each way to school. Thank you for changing lives in 2012. In the coming year, we remain steadfast in our commitment to empower every woman and girl to experience her period with dignity and stay fully engaged in her daily life. Will you join us? In 2012, 85 cents of every dollar went toward direct programming. In 2013, it is our goal to increase this margin to 90% or more.

Major gifts: In October, we were honored to receive a $10,000 grant from the All People Be Happy Foundation, to expand our programs to Uganda in partnership with Nyaka Aids Orphans Project in the first quarter of 2013. In March, we were chosen as the international charity of choice by the Chantlanta sacred music festival. By gifting us over $2500, we were able to initiate our program in the Nawa Jagriti School outside of Kathmandu, Nepal. A seed grant of $3000 from the Mango tree Foundation furthered our clean water initiatives in Andhra Pradesh, India and supported our pilot program in los Brasiles, Nicaragua. The Corporate Giving program at N2N Services, Inc. sustained operating costs in the third quarter with a gift of $2400. In-kind gifts of over $5000 from the united way of metropolitan Atlanta’s gifts-in-kind program, sustained teaching tools and defraying expenses for the women’s circle and period at home efforts.
