Our client’s challengeIn order to negotiate a volatile economic market,our client, a global oil company, sought informationand advice on global staffing activity in the oil andgas market, including any subsequent trends thathad resulted from new discoveries and projectssuch as changing global pay rates.

The company needed a partner with experienceof employing and paying contractors on variousprojects around the world.

Our solutionCollating information from our database of over400,000 professionals and our network of morethan 500 consultants globally, we analyzedcontractor work activity, career history, pay,nationalities and project locations.

We conducted comprehensive salary reviewsto gather benchmark data, which allowed usto produce detailed and accurate rate bandingsby sector and discipline. We matched these ratecards to the various activities and projects thatwere happening across the Americas, Europe,Asia, Australia, Russia and the Middle East.

In addition to comprehensive pay rate data, ourreport also outlined the costs of mobilizing andsupporting personnel across the selected globallocations. It also contained an overview of our livedata, allowing our client to accurately forecast theavailability, pay and associated cost of mobilizingand maintaining the workforce required to executetheir future planned project activity.

The outcomeThe information provided allowed the managementteam to make some of their key operationaldecisions, including the formation of project teamsin several new locations. We have since beenasked by the client to produce the same documentfor them every six months, ensuring they haveaccess to the latest trends and salary informationand can keep a close eye on their contractor payrates.

Our client’s challengeOn 1st October 2011 the Agency Worker Regulations(AWR) came into effect in the UK. This was a set ofregulations ensuring that temporary workersreceived equal treatment and were subject to thesame working and employment conditions aspermanent employees.

This posed a significant challenge to our clientsthat engaged agency workers in the UK as theyhad to adhere to a new set of legislative rules.Firstly they needed to fully understand thelegislation and then seek advice as to whatpreparations were necessary to manage therequired changes to their HR and procurementprocesses.

Our solutionAt the time the AWR regulations came into effect,our Commercial and Legal Director was also theChairman of the Association of ProfessionalStaffing Companies (APSCo). Our enthusiasmto develop knowledge of legislation impactingthe recruitment profession meant that we wereable to work with APSCo to provide vital assistanceand guidance to both client and recruitmentcompanies.

The outcomeArmed with an in-depth knowledge and experienceof staffing legislation, we conducted several freebreakfast seminars for our clients. Such was theneed for advice that these seminars were attendedby many client HR and procurement hiringrepresentatives.

All attendees were positive about the seminarand many have since sought advice from theNES Global Talent’s Commercial and Legal teamon other staffing legislative issues.

Our client’s challengeOur client, an international oil and gas explorationand production company, were relatively new to themarket with only a small HR department supportingthe projects side of the business. They hadambitious growth plans with multiple projectscoming online at the same time, all requiring aproductive talent acquisition strategy.

Our solutionWe developed an end-to-end resourcing scopefor our client, advising on specific sourcing andretention strategies, assessments, interviewing,offering a job, onboarding and mobilization.The strategy focused on improving the attraction,retention and tenure of staff through a robust andtailored assessment and selection process.

We also developed a strategy for enhancing theiremployer brand in the local communities whereoperations were to be sited, enhancing theircandidate attraction capabilities.

The outcomeWe put together a new recruitment process andhelped our client to implement it within 12 weeks.This generated over 2,000 applications in the firsttwo weeks and attracted 6,000 applications in total.Some 200 candidates were screened, 100 taken tointerview and 40 reached offer stage in under threemonths.

This was achieved with a 97% non-agency successrate and a 98% local hire rate, keeping costs to anabsolute minimum. This non-reliance on externalagencies saved our client around AU$800,000against the predicted amount of fees based onsalaries.
