5 potential names for my magazine and font styles/types A-List- I have chosen this name as a possibility as it is suitable for a music magazine. This is because the phrase ‘A- List’ are associated with music, for example ‘a-lister’ musicians. This would fit in perfectly as I want my magazine to focus on popular artists. I think the name would attract my target audience of white, middle-class males aged 16-25 who listen to alternative music as it is a phrase which most young people have heard. It also refers to a person with a desirable social status, something which most young people want, so it is relatable. EDGE - I have chosen this name as a possibility as it fits in with my genre of alternative rock. The word ‘edge’ suggests something different and has connotations of new trends, something I would like for my magazine as I would like for it to be a new trend. It represents the target audience of white, middle-class males aged 16-25 who listen to alternative music and fit into the ‘hipster’ category. This is because alternative music is considered edgy.

5 potential names for my magazine and font styles/types

A-List- I have chosen this name as a possibility as it is suitable for a music magazine. This is because the phrase ‘A-List’ are associated with music, for example ‘a-lister’ musicians.

EDGE- I have chosen this name as a possibility as it fits in with my genre of alternative rock.

Sound- This would be an obvious choice for a music magazine as sound is what music is. I feel that it isn’t my strongest idea as it is not as creative as the others. However, the simplistic element is attractive amongst 16-25 year olds as younger people prefer simple, including names. I would be good for an alternative rock magazine as uncomplicated, much like the music genre itself.

Clash- The name ‘Clash’ would be a good choice as it refers to the noise a drum makes, similar to the very popular magazine ‘Kerrang!’, which is based on the sound a guitar makes. It would automatically stand out as a music magazine just because of the name, which would help it become successful. Also, because the name is quite simplistic, it would be easy to remember. It suits the target audience of males as it sounds harsh and not feminine at all.

OnBeat- The name ‘OnBeat’ would be a good choice as it represent music. It sounds very current and up-to-date, which reflects my genre and what I want my magazine to be about. Because it sounds current, it would attract my target audience of 16-25 year olds. It would also attract my middle-class audience as it sounds fun yet sophisticated at the same time. It also looks contemporary as there is no space between the words and both words start with a capital letter.
