5 Manufacturing Companies with Mobile Apps that Got it RightHOW THESE COMPANIES PAVED THE PATH TO SUCCESS
Consumer brands and mobile app start-ups have known for a while the
impact a mobile app can have on transforming the day-to-day lives of people. Mobile applications help us create efficiencies in our personal
lives through organization, calendaring, task management and countless other ways.
While 90 percent of American adults own a smartphone, the enterprise is taking much longer to adapt to this
not-so-new technology. Only 45
percent of companies have developed mobile apps – even
though on average, their employees are using six to ten apps daily to create their own efficiencies while on the job.
The manufacturing industry especially struggles to embrace and adopt mobile strategies. Those who
do will benefit by transforming the experiences of employees, suppliers, partners and customers.
Harnessing Mobile for Manufacturing
5manufacturing companies that took the leap and are doing mobile apps right.

stakeholders. As part of its mobileinitiative, the company immediatelydistributed more than 1,000 iPads

with a new suite of company apps.
Some of the features offered
within the apps included timesheetmanagement, travel expense approval, leave requests, travelexpense and receipt management, CRM sales, HR approvals, cart approval, Sales OnDemand and StreamWork. SAP
employees worldwide use these apps to simplify theirworkflows and SAP has realized significant business benefitsfrom their investment in enhancing employee and customermobile experiences.

customers and employees through the implementation of a company-wide mobile strategy. The manufacturing company created POWEREDGE, an app that allows users to view and share Eaton’s product catalog, access numerous videos on
product training and expert interviews, and locate the nearest store to purchase a product.
The app is equipped with additional built-in security features
that provide employees with peace of mind as they integrated their personal iPads or iPhones into their daily routines. Feedback from Eaton’s employees and
stakeholders indicates high satisfaction with both the functionality of the app and adoption.
