    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This page is where you thank all the people who have helped you with the project, including

    your supervisor.

We as student of Multimedia University (MMU),pursuing Diploma in Telecommunication and

Electronics Engineering would like to express the highest gratitude and appreciation to the

Centre of Diploma Program(CDP) for allowing us to participated in this Final Year Project

    (FYP).

First of all, we would like to take this opportunity to express our greatest appreciation to our final

year project supervisor, Mdm Heenie Marlynna Mursaid and Mdm Noor Ziela . We want to say a

BIG THANK TO BOTH OF YOU for accepting our proposal and all their time kindness to

guide us all the way long during our project research and implementation. Although they

always busy with their own schedule, they still have time to discuss the problems that we have

at hand and always make corrections to our mistakes before we proceed next step. GRACIAS

once again , Mdm Hernieand Mdm Ziela! We really appreciate all you did for us.

Finally we would like to thank our dearest family members and friend. They gave us a lot of

courage ,physical and moral while we were urging to complete this project. As well as we would

like to thank for each our group members for contributes a lot of their effort and time suffering

from beginning to the end of our project. Without commitment and lustiest cooperation among

members, this project could not be succeeded. Thanks again to all parties that who have

contributes to the success of this project either directly or indirectly.

    ABSTRACT

An abstract is the summary of the report which contains the statement ofwhat was done, how

it was done, the results and the conclusion drawn. It is usually written last after the main bodyof the documentation is completed. It should not be used to define the purpose of the

experiment or to give a general introduction. It should be short and concise, containing only

the most critical information meant for the readers who have limited time to read the full

report. It is normally limited to 200 words. Very often, technical professionals only read the

abstract and will continue reading the entire report only if the abstract attracts their interest.

    1.1 Overview

An overview is a general summary of the project. It is a conceptual/introductory

statement that gives essential definitions, provides a general underlying principle and presents summarized procedures, common problems and difficulties. It is a brief

description of your project intended to introduce the work to the general reader and

towards making the reader to understand what you are doing.

    1.2 Objectives

This section focus on aims or goals intended to be attained and how it can benefit the user

such as:1. To study about the uses of microcontroller in home security system

    2. To analyze and design the interface between microcontroller and GSM module

    3. To develop an affordable home-security for low cost home

It is a concrete statement describing what the project is trying to achieve.

    1.4 Gantt Chart

A Gantt chart outlines the aspects of the project that has been completed during the

Interim part. The Gantt chart must show the duration taken for selecting group membersuntil delivering the Interim Report. You can refer to the Interim Report Gantt Chartto

see how Gantt chart looks like. You can create Gantt chart in Microsoft Excel, MS

Project or other project management software.

    1.5 Division of Work

Division of work is very important make sure every member participates in the project

development. Some of the tasks such as preparing documentation and background studymust be done by all group members. However certain tasks must be delegated to each

group member by the group leader.

You can divide the tasks based on types of resources needed for the project. Below is an

example of division of tasks (just a format). You may add in those tasks which had been

performed during the project but are not included in the table shown below.

Primary study refers to background information or technical knowledge that is critical to

develop your project. It may require understanding the procedures, process or workflow

that you may need to follow.

Primary study also includes feasibility study on your system given the time constraint and

    resources available.

Discuss the existing systems that are available in the market. You may include the circuit

designs that are currently being used and provide a brief explanation about the used

circuits. On top of that, the hardware and/or software requirement for the system may be

presented as well. The study may give you some ideas on the features, methods or

approaches which you can apply or incorporate into your research.

After some familiarization on the existing system, specify the tasks/improvement that you

want to perform in your project. These may include those features which are not being

    included/performed by the existing system.

    3.1 Problem Statement

The problem statement does not refer to problems encountered during your project, but

the problem area your work will be able to solve. It gives a good reason for you to do thisparticular project.

The problem of this project is to design and build a system which can give information about our

    house security via SMS.

The main cause that makes us develop this project is to reduce theft and break in homes. Moreover,

robbery in housing areas is becoming a very common incident. Besides that, it is also becoming more

and more dangerous, by the day as residents are getting hurt during the robberies. In order to prevent

these incidents, we have to build a prototype of a house with security system using microcontroller.

Moreover, it is difficult for the burglar to get into house, because there are RFID are placed in

outside house as well. The owner need to tag an ID to open the door. The door can only open 5

second after RFID was tagged. If wrong ID was tagged, the door cannot be opened.

If burglar breaking on our house, sensors installed in window and door will on and thisinformation will send to owner cell phone. With this, no matter where, the owner will know the

    condition of their house.
