Recess spacer blocks behind chinking

1/2" Diameter Steel Pinsin 1/2" holes in spanner log/window frame
1/4" x 5" Lag Bolts
1/4" Wide Slots
typical both sides. These blocks provide support for the log ends.
This detail may be used where log settlement is expected (when logs are not dry).
Window trim to cover space above window frame. Do not nail trim to spanner log.
Slots may be countersunk 1/2" to countersink bolt heads.
This detail can be used to frame an opening to fit either a simple sash or to fit a commercial window unit.
