Can you believe that we only have two weeks left in first

quarter? Ill be sending home notes soon to set up parent-

teacher conferences. Im looking forward to seeing all of the

parents again. Your child has grown so much this year! I cant

wait to set the bar higher and see even more growth. First

quarter is spent reviewing information from third grade and

setting routines and expectations for fourth grade. During

second quarter, you will see an increase in expectations and

notice that the work is getting more difficult. Please continue

to support your childs school success at home. In talking to

another parent, I bragged at how their child has grown so much

because of the support that their child is receiving. The more

we work together, the smarter and stronger a student your child

will be. Its a proven fact!

Please let me know if you have any questions on how you canbetter help your child at home. Id be happy to help!

This week went by so quickly that I cant really distinguish between Monday and Friday! Those are the weeks that

keep up hopping in class. The students really learned a great deal of information as well. During math, we reviewed

how to make arrays, learned new math vocabulary, and learned how being fluent with multiplication helps us

    tremendously in 4th

grade. The new math vocabulary words we learned are prime, composite, and square numbers.

Ask you brilliant student what those words mean. We also learned a great deal about Ste. Genevieve, St. Louis, and

those mystery explorers from last week, Pierre LaClede and Auguste Chouteau. Please remember to help your childbecome even more successful in 4

thgrade by asking him to tell you what they learned. You may also ask him

questions to help their memory grow.

    A Look Back

Next week will be ust as busy! Dont forget that most of first quarter is spent reviewing concepts from

third grade. Expectations and work will increase as we get to the end of the quarter and into second quarter.

Please help your child review important information that he is learning.

During social studies and reading, we will concentrate on finishing up our Missouri explorers unit. The

students will make a French Missouri village that resembles Ste. Genevieve. Well also review all of the

information that they have learned and complete our huge timeline. Mrs. Jones will also have the students

make an individual timeline in computers. After reviewing, the students will take a large Missouri test. All of

the information that weve learned is in your childs brain book. Please take this opportunity to look at the

information from the last couple of weeks and review the concepts with him.

During math, well continue working on multiplication problems. We will learn to use multiplication

facts that we know that can help us solve harder and larger problems. Well also start looking into multi-step

multiplication and get to Bob! I cant wait to introduce this character to help with multiplying.

    This weeks poll question is:

Tell was a prime, composite, and square number is. Give an example of each. Text 378228 and your

answer to 37607 OR submit 378228 and your answer at http://PollEv.com

I love see everyone so involved in making fourth grade fun and educational!
