THRONE OF SKULLS DOUBLES WEEKEND WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

The Throne of Skulls Doubles Event sees you team up with a gaming friend for a fun packed weekend of

doubles gaming. It focuses on fun and camaraderie, and is an ideal event for all types of players, No

matter whether you’re a seasoned player or if this will be your first step into playing our games, the main

focus for this type of event is on camaraderie and playing in the spirit of the game; that is to say

non-competitive and fair play are the order of the day. Prizes are awarded not just for the skill on the

battlefield but also for painting and sportsmanship: This event is held in our glorious gaming hall at

Warhammer World which boasts excellent tables and terrain to game with over the weekend and our

renowned Bugmans Bar to quench any thirst and fill the belly of even the hungriest Ogryn. You don’t

need to win a single game to do well, it’s all about having a great attitude and enjoying yourself.

WHAT IS THE HORUS HERESY? The Horus Heresy is a story from the distant past of the Warhammer 40,000 universe - a galactic civil war that

ended in the creation of the Imperium as we know it today. It was a time of legend, betrayal and strife and makes

an ideal battleground for our games. At its most basic, this means we use a special series of supplements

produced by Forge World designed to let you re-create these battles.

ADMINISTRATUM COMPLIANCE CHECK LIST

Have you ever considered what heroic acts are required to sway the whole populace of a world? Have you ever

wondered how hard it would be to complete these tasks? The Administratum can be a strange and wondrous

organisation often asking the most impossible and random acts to be preformed in order to bring a world into

compliance. You may need a show of complete force by killing the enemies warlord or to simply satisfy a quota,

and in the next breath to be in a specific geographical location to show off your armies heraldry and colours as

an act of defiance to the worlds original leadership.

This weekend we are tasking you with the Administratum assignments to make a hostile world compliant! At the

beginning of the weekend you will be given an Administratum Compliance check list to fill in during your

games. This list DOES NOT have any impact on your games or your final score for the event. It has been

included to add an element of fun to all your games, you of course do not have to go out of your way to try and

complete this list but the Administratum expects!

COMPLETING THE CHECKLIST After completing one of the tasks on the check list you will need to mark it off your list and get your opponent or

one of the events staff to sign the check list to confirm you have completed the task correctly.

At the End of the weekend hand in your filled in Administratum Compliance check list and the team/ teams with

the most tasks completed will be awarded the Acts of Amazing Heroism Award.

FORCE CONSTRUCTION

Each player may select a Force worth up to 1,000 points.

Points don’t carry over between players.

Each player has their own Force Organisation Chart and it must be fully contained in one player’s Force.

You can’t “donate” a Heavy Support slot to your ally, as an example.

Each player must select a Warlord for their Force, and each counts for Slay the Warlord.

Artefacts, named characters, units weapons and anything else that may only be taken “once per army”

may only be taken once between both players. There is after all, only one of them (or it) in the galaxy.

The Alliance Chart presented in Horus Heresy publications under “Allies in the Age of Darkness” affects

both players Forces and all units are counted as Allied units.

Each player may take their own Rites of War as normal, following the rules laid down in the appropriate

Horus Heresy book. Bear in mind that it may be difficult (and in some cases impossible) to field certain

Rites of War. Rites of War can only affect that players Force, though this will usually already be the case,

it is worth re-stating here for sake of clarity.

GAMING SCORES

Gaming Scores At the end of each game, you and your opponents will need to record your results on your score

card, and then hand in your results to the event staff at the same time. We need you to do this as promptly as

possible so that the next game can be organised straight away. Each game lasts two hours and thirty minutes, and

once the game ends, you will have five minutes to record your result with the events team. To determine the

winner of each game, use the victory conditions as laid out in the mission. Once you know the result, you will

record it on your event card using the following system:

• Win the game – 6 points

• Draw the game – 2 points

• Lose the game – 0 points

For each game you will also need to record on your score card the following victory conditions (if you achieve

them), which will be used as tiebreakers should the need arise (see the Tiebreakers box, below).

SPORTSMANSHIP AND ARMY PRESENTATION SCORES Sportsmanship and army presentation scores are calculated by voting in the following two categories when you

hand in your final results at the end of the tournament. You get two votes in each category, and you must vote

only for the teams and armies you played against. This is also a secret ballot, so don’t let anyone see who you’ve

voted for!

Favourite Game – You can vote for the two opposing teams you enjoyed playing against the most (note that

you can’t vote for the same team twice!). Maybe they displayed excellent sportsmanship, perhaps they were

positive and friendly, or it was generally a fun and engaging game.

Favourite Army – You can vote for the two team armies you played against that you liked the look of the most

(note that you can’t vote for the same army twice!). Excellent painting standards, a fantastic centrepiece model,

spectacular conversions or overall complimentary theme may make up your mind. Each vote your team receives

counts as three points towards your tournament score – this means you can receive a maximum of fifteen points

for Favourite Game and fifteen points for Favourite Army. Every team must use their four votes, as they are

integral to the event. If you don’t vote, then you don’t rank!

Tiebreakers If players earn the same event score by the end of the event, we will use the following tiebreakers to establish

final rankings.

They are listed here in order of priority:

• Total Slay The Warlord victory conditions achieved

• Total Last Man Standing victory conditions achieved

• Total Attrition victory conditions achieved

• Total points value of enemy units destroyed

For example, John and Edd both achieve an event score of 21, so we go to tiebreakers to establish who has the

higher rank. Firstly, John and Edd have both achieved Slay The Warlord four times, therefore they are still of

the same rank. Moving on to the next tiebreaker, we find John has achieved Last Man Standing two times,

whilst Edd has achieved it once. John would therefore finish above Edd in the final rankings.

Event Score Example At the end of the event, Elliot has won four games and lost one game, earning an event

score so far of 24. He then receives three Favourite Game votes and two Favourite Army votes, which are

added to the 24 points he scored from his games for a total event score of 39.

FAVOURITE GAME VOTES Favourite Game votes are simple - just pick the two games you enjoyed the most at the event. It’s a great way to

acknowledge a really fun game, opponents with whom you had a great rapport, or maybe it was just that their

army looked fantastic. Votes are taken at the end of the day with the results of your final game, so please show

your appreciation of your favourite opponents. The team with the highest number of Favourite Game votes at the

end of the weekend will win the Most Sporting Team Award, with highest overall ranking used as the

tiebreaker.

LEGENDS PAINTING COMPETITIONS Legends gives you the chance to show off your skills with single models and units rather than with whole

armies. Simply enter the relevant category when it’s open; once all the entries are in, we will ask all the players

to vote for their favourites. The player that earns the most votes in each category will earn the relevant award at

the Award Ceremony. (Please note: only miniatures from your Throne of Skulls Doubles Weekend forces may

be entered into this competition).

Hero of Legend: A single model of all types of Infantry, Cavalry, Bikes and Jetbikes.

Icon of Legend: Any Primarch, Vehicle, Monstrous creature or model that does not fit in any other category.

Company of Legend: Any unit of two to five or less Infantry or cavalry, or three or less Cavalry, Bikes,

Jetbikes or Infantry on larger bases.

BEST ARMY COMPETITION It’s an honour for any player to have their army nominated for the Best Army competition. Make sure you show

your appreciation by voting for your favourite collection from those selected during Sunday lunch time. The

player who receives the most number of votes will receive the Best Army award. The Events Team will select

the majority of best armies on Saturday so make sure to have your best on display!

To qualify for a Best Army nomination you must have constructed and painted the army yourself.

THRONE OF SKULLS DOUBLES WEEKEND CHAMPIONS! This award will go to the team that scores the most event points over the weekend. We will use the tie breaker

box as a secondary sorter.

CONCEDING PLAYER We would ask that all players play their games to the very end. However, in the unlikely event that a player

concedes before the game has reached it’s natural conclusion, then they will automatically earn a loss and 0

victory points, whilst their opponent will earn a win with 10 victory points. If the winning player has already

scored more than this, then they record their current victory points instead. Please speak to a member of the

Events staff if you plan to finish your game early.

THE AWARD CEREMONY At the end of the weekend, it’s time to reward the achievements of some of the players. We will be awarding the

Legends Competition Winners for: Hero of Legend, Icon of Legend and Company of Legend. Along with the

Best Army Award, Most Sporting Team Award, Acts of Amazing Heroism award and the Doubles

Weekend Champions Award.

YOUR TICKET Your ticket to this event covers entry for you and your team mate to the Horus Heresy

Throne of Skulls Doubles Weekend. At the heart of the event are five games of Warhammer 30,000, These Five

games will see you play against like minded players. There are lots of fun things to aim for, from painting

competitions to gaming awards. It’s definitely all to play for! Finally, you will be served a tasty hot lunch on

Saturday and Sunday.

CONVERSIONS AND PROXIES We often get asked if conversions and proxies are allowed at our events.

The answer is yes but we need to check them first. Not every conversion or proxy is suitable for organised play,

or for Warhammer World. For example, there is a difference between a Legion Drop Pod and a Dreadclaw Drop

Pod and we would expect any player to use the correct one in any army they bring, for the sake of clarity and to

prevent any confusion on the part of their opponent. If you are in any way unsure, consult our handy flowchart

below: Are you planning to use conversions or proxies of any kind (aka. anything other than the stock model)?

YES! Contact us at 0115 900 4994 or email us at [email protected]

NO! Carry on - nothing to worry about except getting it painted on time

CODE OF CONDUCT Here at Warhammer World we expect everyone to use fully painted and assembled models and to treat everyone

they encounter with civility and respect. This is just as true during your games - especially at an event weekend

where the objective is to have fun playing against your opponents whilst trying to win the game and spend time

with quality, like-minded people. We are looking for great generals who enjoy not only the hobby but use their

battlefield skill in a friendly manner. We want to reward all aspects of the hobby including painting, playing and

sportsmanship to reward our Horus Heresy Doubles

players.
