PATENT

A replica plating device for use with an open- ended container which holds a plurality of cells on a culture medium therein comprises a sub- stantially planar pressing member. A side wall extends upwardly from the pressing member and surrounds same. A skirt is connected to the side wall and extends downwardly from its connec- tion point in the direction toward said pressing member along the exterior surface of said side wall in spaced relation thereto. As a result, the side wall and skirt form a hook for maintaining the device in position on the container to allow limited, controlled movement of the device for replica plating of cells within the container. A method of using a device substantially as described above for obtaining print-replicas of cells or the like is also within the purview of the present invention.

Chemically synthesized polypeptides containing about 6 to about 40 amino acid residues having amino acid residue sequences that substantially correspond to the amino acid residue sequences of antigenic determinants of interleukin-2, when administered alone or as polymers or as con- jugates bound to carriers, induce the production of antibodies of predetermined specificities. The polypeptides and the antibodies produced thereto can be used in diagnostic systems to measure the presence and amount ofinterleukin- 2 and interleukin-2 cell surface receptors or bi- nding sites in an assayed sample.

A disposable sterilization test pack for deter- mining the el~cacy of sterilizing equipment com- prises a porous base pad having a cavity for receiving the sterilization indicator. Porous pads are disposed on opposite sides of the base pad to retain the sterilization indfcator within the cavity, and an impermeable layer is disposed against one of the porous pads to confine the in- troduction and evacuation of air from the test pack to the edges of the test pack and the ex- posed porous pad which is not covered by the impermeable layer.
