Hermes Great Estate Ltd has formal policies and procedures for all aspects of its business, encompassed within an accredited Integrated Management Policy (IMS) that covers:

Angle-right OHSAS 18001 - HEALTH AND SAFETY

Angle-right ISO 9001 - QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Angle-right ISO 14001 - ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Any project secured by Hermes Great Estate Ltd is planned for through the development of a Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan. Outlined here is a summary of our approach to planning health and safety management.

Experience of The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM 2015) CDM Regulations

Since our foundation, we have operated as Principal Contractor under CDM Regulations on numerous schemes. We are fully aware of all of our duties under the CDM Regulations and commit to fully discharging our obligations. This is achieved through the clear roles and responsibilities distributed through our workforce, which are fully aligned with the Approved Code of Practice for the CDM regulations.

Thorough Site VisitsManaging health and safety on the sites we are involved with is of prime importance to us and is crucial to the continuing success of our operations. We produce a thorough, detailed and flexible Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan and Traffic Management Plan to allow the project to proceed with the maximum regard for the Health and Safety of all those who come into contact with the works all of which starts from the moment our experienced teams visit the site.

In tandem with the site visit, we undertake a comprehensive review of the Pre-Construction Information Pack to identify key risks and begin to develop a management strategy for carrying out the works, whilst continuously bearing in mind the health and wellbeing of all who may come into contact with the project.

PlanningAll information will be forwarded to relevant parties to enable their works to be carried out in a safe manner and without risk to health. All requests for information will be dealt with promptly. Regular liaison takes place with the site manager and the Clients representative to discuss the planned activities of that day.

Hermes Great Estate Ltd will ensure that the construction phase is properly planned, managed and monitored, and that sufficient resource is deployed alongside the appropriate level of competence for projects of this size and scope. Security of the site is extremely important to us and this will be maintained at all times via the use of ID badges provided only for those who have been inducted, and who have the necessary skills and qualification relevant to their trade including a valid CSCS card.

Site rules will be enforced relevant to the environment in which the project takes place, and the workforce is consulted about all relevant health and safety matters. All key information is prominently displayed throughout the site, including escape

routes. Traffic management information, first aid and key contact numbers will also be prominently displayed onsite.

At the end of the construction phase, all relevant Health and Safety material is provided to the CDM Co-ordinator to allow them to provide the completed Health and Safety file as soon as practically possible.

Under the Health & Safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations 1996 it is the duty of employers to consult with their employees on health and safety matters. Hermes Great Estate Ltd is keen to promote a safety culture within the company and encourage employee awareness and motivation. This is achieved by the running of a Health & Safety Committee as a formal forum for the discussion of health and safety issues.

As an employer, Hermes Great Estate Ltd is committed to ensure that we:

Angle-right CONSULT WITH EMPLOYEES (INCLUDING SELF‐EMPLOYED) ON HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES

Angle-right CONSULT WITH OUR SUPPLY CHAIN ON HEALTH AND SAFETY MATTERS

Hermes Great Estate Ltd, in collaboration with Nobles Construction Ltd and iLex Project Management, is well equipped to successfully deliver every project we work on. In terms of the lifecycle of a project, the areas of our organisation responsible for the service delivery of the contract would be provided at each stage in accordance with the summary below:

STAGE 2

Tender StageOn the receipt of a tender, the relevant details of the tender are logged, all relevant tender documentation is obtained and uploaded. A member of the estimating team will then take the lead with compiling our bid. The planning engineer and contracts manager develop a programme and allocate sufficient levels of resource to ensure that we can carry out the works safely and effectively. Site visits will also be undertaken at this stage, and advice sought from our Health and Safety consultants, particularly for works on or adjacent to occupied secure premises. Advice from our specialist subcontractors will be integrated into our bid to ensure any specific requirements particular to the project are taken into account.

By involving the correct parts of our organisation and supply chain at tender stage, we ensure that the bid submitted will offer you the best possible solution, with the absolute minimum of qualifications.
