1 Program installation
1.1 Full installation on new platform 1. Execute the program HTBasic90rd.exe. This will install the run time environment
required by the GUI.
2. At the end of the HTBasic installation, restart the PC.
3. Execute setup_gui_12_7a.exe. This will install the GUI program. We recommend to use default installation setup (default installation on c:\us5g_gui).
4. For user convenience, create a program shortcut to 'US5G_GUI' on the PC desktop. To do this, just drag and drop the US5G_GUI icon from the C:\US5G_gui directory to the desktop.
Figure 1 : Copy of the property of the desktop shortcut.
1.2 Upgrade current installation To upgrade the GUI interface to a more recent version, just execute the setup program. For example : setup_gui_12_7a.exe.

Step 2 : GUI COM Data setting
Note : The US5Ge / UNISYNCe equipments are setup by default to :
9600 bits/s, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, no flow control.

After login on Craft port, the GUI must configure the US5Ge or the UNISYNCe to work in MMI mode without ECHO. These parameters are TL1 arguments named HMI=N, ECHO=N. The Craft connection will disconnect automatically. Wait for 3 seconds before entering again the CRAFT session. Perform again steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 to establish the connection with the GUI craft setup.

3 GPS Local position setting The receiver current position is fixed by its antenna position. To work correctly, the UNISYNCe-US5Ge needs to know this position accurately. Once the GUI is started, we connect to the UNISYNCe-US5Ge and we log in the unit. On the main menu bar, we click on the EQPT button and we select INPuts/OSC item. A panel like this one below shows up:
We activate the GPS supervision windows by clicking on the GPS button (“GPS Monitoring” balloon here above).

Panel information summary: “Satellites infos” window This area shows up the data for the available satellites. “Current” window
This area shows up the local position and UTC time as determined by the receiver. Two coordinate representations are available 1) degree, minute, sec. 2) fractional degree.
“Position and parameter window”
This area shows up the parameters we can set up into the receiver. There are also two ways to represent the position coordinates.
“Factory Reset” button
This command asks the receiver to reset its memory backup. The memory is refreshed with working parameters and data as soon as they are updated by the receiver processor.
“Site Survey” button
Unfortunately, this command is not available within the GPS receiver. “Set POS” button
This command is used to set up the receiver coordinates from the data “Lat”, “Lon”, “Alt” defined on control left side.
“copy” button
This command is used to transfer the current local position determined by the receiver into the user parameter window.
“Refresh” check box
This command enables panel automatic refresh (every sec). Position setting :
• After having determined the geographical coordinates of the site, we set up the data on the left side of the “Position and parameter window”. We can use either coordinate representation to enter the data. The program updates automatically the second representation after we press ‘Enter” key.
• Click “Set POS” button to set up UNISYNCe-US5Ge parameter and to update GPS
receiver parameter.
• Check the “Current” window to see position update. Note: there is always a tiny little difference between data entered and data computed by the receiver.

4 Performance Monitoring The Graphical User Interface of the UNISYNCe - US5Ge equipments can control the Performance Monitoring functions of the units. Because PM are managed in the same way on both equipments, the explanation and instruction described here apply to both. Note : PM functions are activated through TL1 command. So it is always possible to control
these functions directly from craft or telnet sessions. Performance Monitoring is accomplished in two different ways :
• On request of the operator and based on the “Retrieve mode” interface,
• Automatically with a programmable time interval and based on the “scheduled
mode” interface.
4.1 Performance Monitoring in “Scheduled mode” Once the GUI started, we connect to the UNISYNCe/US5Ge, and we login the unit. On the main menu bar we click on the SCHED button and we enter the TIE 1s Stripchart menu.

A panel, like this one shows up:
On this panel, we dynamically follow up (every 10 s) the TIE for the activated input measure(s). See on the right size for input activation. It is possible to set up the data acquisition and its representation with the different buttons available on the screen.
GILLAM – FEi
Doc ref. 4399MC-JMbf rev. 4 UNISYNCe US5Ge Page 38/43 20/01/2012 Graphical User Interface
4.2 Performance Monitoring in “Retrieve mode” Once the GUI started, we connect to the UNISYNCe/US5Ge, and we login the unit. On the main menu bar we click on the PM button. It is possible to start collecting (retrieving) data memorized into the unit for the following parameters :
• FREQCORR : Follow up of the oscillator(s) control voltage,
• FFOFF : Frequency offset for the available inputs,
• LMRTIE: MRTIE computed on the fly,
• MRTIE: MRTIE computed on the accumulated TIE 1s data,
• TDEV: TDEV computed on the accumulated TIE 1s data,
• TIE 1s: TIE data acquisition with conversion to “.sqm” file format.
These measurements are associated with captured files stored into the PC hard disk (folder \US5G_GUI\measure).

4.2.1 FREQCORR A panel, like the one below, shows up:
After that, we have to specify the file for storage : accept the proposed file name, or enter your own one.

The plot will look like the following one :
We can analyze the behavior of the oscillator(s) of the unit. Many controls help to manage the plots view.
4.2.2 FFOFF, LMRTIE, MRTIE, TDEV All these measures are used in the same way. A panel, like the one below, shows up:
GILLAM – FEi

4.2.3 TIE 1s For this measure, there is no data representation available, because the data are saved on disk in a format fully compatible with SQM software. So for this measure, it is more easy and valuable to view and analyze it with our “SQM reader” available program.
After that, we have to specify the file for storage : accept the proposed file name, or enter your own one. The data acquisition (data retrieve), conversion and saving progress can be followed up on the next graph :
GILLAM – FEi

With the SQM reader program, we get a plot like the following one :
