The Plant Tissue Culture Association (India) [PTCA (I)] is an elite body of Plant Tissue Culture

Scientists, several of whom are pioneers in this field, while others have established scientific

credentials. At present, the Association comprises of 106 elected members. One of the goals

of PTCA(I) is to provide platform for students, researchers and scientists to present their work for

interaction and exchange views on the most recent developments in plant science. PTCA (I) has been

providing this unique platform by facilitating annual congregation of scientists, year after year, for

more than past four decades. The annual meeting of the association is combined with a three-day

symposium on a theme related to advances in plant tissue culture and plant biotechnology. The 42nd

Annual Meeting of Plant Tissue Culture Association (India) & International Symposium

on Advances in Plant Biotechnology and Genome Editing (APBGE-2021) is being organized

by ICAR-Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Ranchi- 834 010, India during April 8-10,

2021 in association with PTCA(I). In order to celebrate the award of Nobel prize in chemistry for the

year 2020 to Dr. Jennifer Doudna and Dr. Emmanuelle Charpentier for developing a technology of

genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9, one of the focus areas of this year’s symposium is on

applications of Genome Editing in Plant Science.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this event will be a live, virtual event. This

symposium will provide an excellent opportunity to bring together international experts and

emerging scientists with an interest in this exciting field of plant biology. The overall goal of this

symposium is to provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas on plant biotechnology

and genome editing and the development of new scientific collaborations.

About PTCA(I) and the Symposium:

The Organizing Committee invites the participants to contribute the paper for oral and poster

presentation. The language of the symposium will be English. The abstract not exceeding 500

words should have a title followed by the name of the author(s), affiliation and e-mail address of

the corresponding author. The abstract should be typed in font: Times New Roman; font size 12.

The abstracts may be submitted through the Symposium website https://www.apbge2021.co.in/

on or before 15th March, 2021. The acceptance will be communicated to the presenting author by

25th March, 2021. The name of the presenting author must be underlined in the abstract. The

abstract should contain a brief introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion.

Tables, figures/photographs and references should not be included in the abstract. The

abstracts are invited for following types of presentations:

Plenary & Keynote Talks: Eminent Scientists/researchers from national and international

research institutions / universities will be invited to deliver plenary and keynote talks on

various research topics.

Invited Talks: Eminent Scientists/researchers from national and international research

institutions / universities will be invited to deliver invited talks in each session.

Oral Presentations: The organizing committee will select few abstracts for oral presentation

in each session.

Poster Presentations: There will be separate “Poster Sessions” in each technical session to

encourage wider interaction and sharing of the information. Two best posters in each session

will be awarded. The pdf of a poster will be allowed to present through “virtual” mode.
