Of Kings And Kingship
Americans have an uncomfortable relationship with kings. The American Revolution was fought for independence from King George, after all. Nonetheless, today every Catholic church around the world celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Today’s feast invites us to look beyond our national loyalties and rejoice in our primary identity. We are children of God in Jesus, Christ the King. Our readings help us consider what it’s like to belong to God’s kingdom. The book of Samuel captures the deep longing of the Israelites for a king to shepherd them. Saint Paul reminds the Colossians that we belong to the kingdom of Christ, whose power he praises in a beautiful hymn. Finally, Luke’s Gospel calls to mind the kind of king Jesus chooses to be—a suffering servant, a man for others. By sacrificing his life for us, Jesus throws open the gates of Paradise. Dear brothers and sisters in Christ:
Receive abundant blessings. May the grace of God always accompany you, may peace be in your homes, and may the Virgin Mary always give you her love and care.
The feast of Christ, the King of the Universe, marks the end of the liturgical year. The year that ended was Cycle C, during which we were mainly meditating on the Gospel according to Saint Luke. The next liturgical year will be Cycle A.
We remember that, at the end of time, Christ will rise as King of the Universe to judge all nations. It is a very special holiday that celebrates the fullness of time, or the end of the passing world and the beginning of eternal life. This party invites us to reflect on our destiny and the final judgment. If we really want to achieve eternal life and we are working on it, it is not to be afraid, but to wish that the Kingdom of God be present among us and start a new era that we all want; freed from human smallness and fragility, we are finally rescued by the passion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We all want that call from Christ the King, that if, with our life, we let Him rule us and let ourselves be led by charity and that deep love of God in all our acts, that Jesus will tell us as He told the good thief on the Cross, 'today you will be with me in paradise' (Luke 23:33-43).
At the same time, I want to wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving dinner. Have a blessed time together with your family and friends. It is time to prepare for that with joy and peace. I ask God to give you not only a lot of work preparing dinner, but also a good rest - let your hearts rejoice to look around your table at your children, grandchildren and all those loved ones who come to share such a beautiful night.
May the Virgin Mary accompany you with her tenderness, and the Lord Jesus with His Spirit of love inspire you to have a memorable family life and grant you all good. A fraternal embrace to all.

Everyone desires books and magazines to read, schools for education, communities in which to live, employment. But hope simply remains hope as long as you depend solely on yourself. Yet when you allow your desires to be shaped by God's grace, then they will be realized to a degree you could not have imagined.
Your plan seems too vast, your program enormous, the obstacles confronting you as high as mountains, as wide as the sea. You wonder how, in your frailty, you can overcome them. Long ago, in times as troublesome as your own, Paul told his Christians, "God chose... the weak of the world to shame the strong (1 Cor 1:27), and "through the grace of God I am what I am, and the grace He gave me has not been without result" (1 Cor 15:10) - that is, provided you are faithful to the inspiration of God's grace.
Examination of conscience means that you review your life in the light of faith.

Chúa Nhật, ngày 24 tháng 11 năm 2019 Kính thưa Quý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em trong Chúa Kitô, Nguyện xin Thiên Chúa ban cho Quý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em được tràn đầy ơn sủng. Và xin cho Gia đình Quý Ông
Bà và Anh Chị Em luôn được hồng ân Chúa ở cùng, luôn được Đức Trinh Nữ Maria yêu thương, chăm sóc vỗ về. Lễ Chúa Kitô Vua, Vua vũ trụ, đánh dấu điểm kết thúc của Năm Phụng Vụ. Chúng ta vừa kết thúc năm C, là năm
mà chúng ta suy niệm chủ yếu về Tin Mừng Thánh Luca. Năm phụng vụ tiếp theo sẽ là năm A. Chúng ta đều biết rằng, vào ngày tận thế, Chúa Kitô sẽ ngự đến vinh hiển như Vua vũ trụ để phán xét tất cả mọi
người trên mọi Quốc gia. Ngày Lễ Chúa Kitô Vua này là Lễ đặc biệt giúp ta suy nghĩ về thời kỳ viên mãn, đánh dấu sự kết thúc của Thế giới tạm bợ này, cũng như sự khởi đầu của cuộc sống vĩnh cửu. Lễ Chúa Kitô Vua mời gọi chúng ta suy niệm về số phận của chúng ta và ngày phán xét cuối cùng. Nếu chúng ta thực sự muốn có được cuộc sống vĩnh cửu và chúng ta đang cố gắng để đạt được điều đó, thì chúng ta đang không phải lo sợ gì, mà lại ước ao Nước Thiên Chúa mau hiện diện giữa chúng ta để bắt đầu một kỷ nguyên mới mà mọi người chúng ta đều mong muốn, hầu được thoát khỏi sự nhỏ bé và mỏng manh của con người, để rồi cuối cùng chúng ta được cứu thoát nhờ cuộc khổ nạn và sự chết của Chúa Giêsu Kitô.
Tất cả chúng ta đều muốn tuyên xưng Chúa Kitô là Vua, để rồi trong cuộc sống của chúng ta, nếu chúng ta đã để Ngài cai trị, nếu chúng ta đã để đức ái cũng như tình yêu bao la của Thiên Chúa dẫn dắt mọi hành vi của chúng ta, thì chúng ta cũng sẽ được Chúa Giêsu nói với chúng ta như Ngài đã nói với tên trộm lành trên Thập giá: “hôm nay, ngươi sẽ ở trên Thiên Đàng với Ta” (Lu-ca 23: 33-43).
Nhân đây, tôi cũng thân chúc tất cả Quý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em một Lễ Tạ ơn thật hạnh phúc với Gia đình và Người thân, Bạn bè vì đã đến lúc chúng ta chuẩn bị cho ngày này trong vui tươi và an bình rồi. Tôi cầu xin Chúa ban cho Quý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em không chỉ phải lo nhiều việc để chuẩn bị cho Lễ Tạ Ơn, mà còn được nghỉ ngơi nhiều cho khỏe mạnh nữa - hãy để cho tâm hồn Auý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em được hân hoan vui sướng khi nhìn thấy từng Người thân yêu đang quây quần quanh bàn tiệc: các Con, các Cháu và tất cả mọi người Thân đến để chia sẽ một buổi cơm tối thật tuyệt đẹp.
Nguyện xin Đức Trinh Nữ Maria cùng đồng hành với Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em qua sự dịu dàng khoan thai của Mẹ, và nguyện xin Chúa Giêsu cùng với Chúa Thánh Thần ban ơn để Quý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em có được Lễ Tạ Ơn đáng ghi nhớ, và mọi người được vui vẻ, bình an.

Chúa Nhật Thứ 34 Thường Niên - Năm C Lễ Chúa Giêsu Vua Vũ Trụ
Bài đọc 1: 2Sm 5:1-3 Dân Do Thái đã xức dầu tấn phong Ðavít làm vua lãnh đạo họ. Vua Ðavít là hình ảnh Chúa Giêsu là Vua chúng ta, hướng dẫn chúng ta về Vương Quốc Nước Trời. Bài đọc 2: Cl 1:12-20 Thánh Phaolô minh chứng Chúa Giêsu là Trưởng Tử mọi loài thọ sinh; và chính Ðức Giêsu đã xác nhận vương quyền của Người trên thập giá; khi Người chịu chết giao hòa loài người với Thiên Chúa. Tin Mừng: Lc 23:35-43 Tin Mừng hôm nay thuật lại Chúa Giêsu bị đóng đinh treo trên khổ giá, bị mọi người nhạo cười. Ðó là lúc Người biểu lộ vương quyền của Người, để cứu rỗi người trộm lành và tất cả chúng ta. Người là Vua Tình Yêu.

Estimados hermanos y hermanas en Cristo:
Reciban abundantes bendiciones y que la gracia de Dios siempre les acompañe y la paz esté en sus hogares, y la Virgen María siempre
les de su amor y cuidado.
La fiesta de Cristo Rey del Universo, marca el fin del año litúrgico, este año que terminamos fue el Ciclo C, y el Evangelio que principalmente fuimos meditando a lo largo de este año ha sido San Lucas, y el próximo será el Ciclo A.
Recordamos que al final de los tiempos, Cristo se alzará cómo Rey del Universo para juzgar a todas las naciones, es una fiesta muy especial en la cual que estaríamos celebrando la plenitud de los tiempos, o el fin del mundo pasajero y el inicio de la vida eterna. Esta fiesta nos invita a reflexionar sobre nuestro destino y el juicio final, si realmente lo deseamos y estamos trabajando por conseguir la vida eterna, no es para tener miedo sino para desear que el Reino de Dios se haga presente entre nosotros y comience una era nueva que todos deseamos, liberados de la pequeñez y fragilidad humana finalmente somos rescatados por la pasión y muerte de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
Todos deseamos ese llamado de Cristo Rey, que si con nuestra vida dejamos que Él nos gobernara y nos dejamos llevar por la caridad y ese amor profundo a Dios en todos nuestros actos, Jesús nos diga como al buen ladrón en la Cruz, ‘hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.’ (Lucas 23:33-43)
Al mismo tiempo, quiero desear a todos ustedes una muy feliz cena de Acción de Gracias y que pasen con su familia y amigos una bendita reunión, es tiempo de ir preparando esa convivencia con alegría y paz, pido a Dios les dé no solamente un tiempo de mucho trabajo preparando la cena, sino también un buen descanso y su corazón se alegre al mirar alrededor de su mesa a sus hijos, nietos y todos aquellos seres queridos que lleguen para compartir tan bella noche.
La Virgen María les acompañe con su ternura, y el Señor Jesús con su Espíritu de amor les inspire a tener una convivencia familiar memorable y les conceda todo bien. Un abrazo fraterno a todos.

De Reyes y Reinados
Los estadounidenses tienen una relación incomoda con los reyes. La Revolución Estadounidense se peleó para lograr la independencia del Rey Jorge, después de todo. Sin embargo, hoy cada iglesia católica alrededor del mundo celebra la Solemnidad del Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo. La celebración de hoy de la Iglesia nos invita a ver más allá de nuestras lealtades nacionales y regocijarnos en nuestra primera identidad. Somos hijos de Dios en Jesús, Cristo el Rey. Nuestras lecturas nos ayudan a considerar cómo pertenecer al Reino de Dios. El libro de Samuel captura el profundo anhelo de los israelitas por un rey que los pastoree. San Pablo recuerda a los colosenses que pertenecemos al reino de Cristo, cuyo poder alaba en un hermoso himno. Por último, el Evangelio de Lucas evoca el tipo de rey que Jesús elige ser, un siervo sufriente, un hombre para los demás. Al sacrificar su vida por nosotros, Jesús abre las puertas del Paraíso. Tradiciones de Nuestra Fe
En la frontera entre México y El Paso en Texas en los Estados Unidos hay una grandísima imagen de Cristo Rey con sus brazos extendidos en bienvenida y sobre una cruz. En el continente Americano encontramos imágenes de Cristo en las montañas como Cristo Redentor en Brasil, o Cristo de los Andes, entre Chile y Argentina, o el Cristo Rey en Colombia; todos observando calladamente pesares y progresos de sus pueblos y naciones. En toda Latinoamérica se grita esperanza-damente “Viva Cristo Rey”. La Iglesia universal honra a Cristo con el título de Rey solo desde 1925, pero siempre tuvo la certeza que el pobre Jesús de Nazaret es nuestro Maestro y Señor y, contra él no pueden las fuerzas del mal ni la injusticia. Terminando el año litúrgico, es justo y necesario recordar y festejar que Jesús reina para siempre. En Latinoamérica y en todas partes donde la injusticia parece dominar, Cristo Rey es continuo recuerdo de la prome-sa divina; de la esperanza de un mundo mejor no allá en el cielo sino aquí en la tierra renovada. Invitamos a la comunidad a compartir con el Grupo de Oración Resurrección y Vida todos los miércoles a partir de las 7:00 pm en la iglesia. Nos reunimos para aprender más de la palabra, dar gracias a nuestro Padre Dios por las maravillas que hace, venimos a ofrecerle alabanzas y también tenemos conferencistas que los invitamos a darnos testimonios de fe, esperanza y caridad.

Advent Meaning
Advent comes from the Latin word meaning "coming." Jesus is coming, and Advent is intended to be a season of preparation for His arrival. While we typically regard Advent as a joyous season, it is also intended to be a period of preparation, much like Lent. Prayer, penance and fasting are appropriate during this season.
Advent is not as strict as Lent, and there are no rules for fasting, but it is meant to be a period of self-preparation. The purple color associated with Advent is also the color of penance. The faithful should fast during the first two weeks in particular and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The color of the Third Sunday of Advent is rose. This color symbolizes joy and repre-sents the happiness we will experience when Jesus comes again. The Third Sunday is a day of anticipatory celebration. It is formerly called "Gaudete" Sunday; gaudete means "rejoice" in Latin.
Finally, Sundays during Advent, just as during Lent, should not be given to fasting, but instead to celebration because we celebrate the resur-rection of Our Lord every Sunday. It is important to remember, however, there are no particular rules for how the laity should observe Advent.
