Be respectful— Be Responsible— Be Safe Dear Parents/Guardians;
The month of May ended with our annual
Volunteer Reception to honour our fabulous
volunteers.
As this year concludes, the month of June is an
extremely busy month with many celebrations and
ceremonies planned. Please consult the calendar
for these very important dates.
The last day of classes will be Friday, June 30th
with dismissal at 11:30 am. Please note that final
report cards will be going home on that day along
with class supply lists for the following year.
Classes for the grade 1-6 students will resume on
Wednesday, September 6th, 2017. LAC begin
staggered classes onThursday, September 8th and
Nursery, Kindergarten and Autism Centre classes
begin on Monday, September 11th.
In June we say farewell to our grade 6 students
who will make their transition to grade 7 in the
fall. The group of students that is leaving us will
be missed greatly by the staff. Many of the
grade 6 students have been leaders, offering
support to the Gym, Music Program, Book Buddies
and Reading Recovery. We are so proud of each of
you and wish you well.
I would like to take this opportunity to inform you
of a few changes in our staff for next school year.
Due to our enrolment for 2017/2018 school year,
we have closed one of our intermediate class-
rooms. Mrs. Bennett will be teaching a grade 2/3
multi-aged classroom in Room 8. Mrs. Hoydalo will
be teaching a grade 4/5 multi-age classroom as
well as Mr. Vernaus. Ms Salter and Mr. Fillion will
be teaching a grade 1/2 multi-aged class in their
current classrooms. Mrs. Mandarano will be
teaching a grade 2/3 multi-aged class and Mrs.
Horbacio will be our am/pm Nursery/Kindergarten
teacher.
Also, we want to wish warm farewells to
Ms Fernando, Mrs. Husarewycz and Mrs. Heuring
who complete their terms on June 30th, 2017.
I would like to thank the Teachers, Educational
Assistants, Clerks, Support staff, Lunch Program
staff and Custodians for their dedication and hard
work to ensure learning and success for all
students. A special thank you to all parents and
guardians for their on-going support.
Have a great summer!

NEWS FROM THE GYM
MUSIC ROCKS!
I can hardly believe it's already June! We've been so busy creating and enjoying music that time
has just flown by.
The primary students have been singing a variety of songs, creating rhythms using words and
percussion instruments, interpreting stories though music, and have been working hard at moving
forward in their Taiko playing. Great work!
Intermediate students have been progressing playing the soprano recorders, and have been
working hard at learning the choreography to this year's Sharing Dance. Seeing the students use
choreographed movement to respond to music has been really beautiful. This month we will
continue with recorder playing, singing, and taiko drumming. Students will also compose their own
music inspired by the music and movement of STOMP.
Congratulations to the Choir students who performed beautifully for our wonderful school
volunteers! Your harmonies were spot on and your gift of music was appreciated by all who heard
it. I'm so proud of all of you for your hard work in choir the last 6 months.
Have a wonderful summer, everyone, and make sure to enjoy the music around you!
