*THE ILLUMINATION OF ADVENT Kyle, Sandra & Michael Nash

It is our contention that God has done all that has been done out of a sense of love. God created out of a desire to be in a loving relationship with creation. God created us with free will so that we may choose to love in return. God’s love remains steadfast even when our love fails. Over and over again God attempts to woo us into love and faithfulness. Over and over again our love falters; our very natures need to be changed. Yet God’s love prevails. Yet again, God acts on our behalf. Out of love for us there is Immanuel, ‘God with us’. “Love came down at Christmas, Love all lovely, love divine”, and nothing will ever be the same. Heaven and nature may sing, but we are changed by this thing that God has done. Our very beings are altered. For the first time this love of God transforms us from those who are condemned by the law to those who are enabled to live by the law of love. We are made new by the love of God. Thanks be to God. So we light a candle for love this day. We are pilgrims on a journey to God, making our way to God and helping others to do so as well.
