Saturday January 12, 2019 4 DISTRICTS 20 bovines rescued, smuggler held STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: Police on Friday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 20 bovines from the clutches of a smuggler. As per the details, on the directions of SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, a police party led by SHO Batote Insp. Nazir Ahmed under the supervision of DySP HQRs Ramban Asgar Malik and under the close supervision of Addl. SP Sanjay Parihar laid a surprise Naka near Nashri, Batote and during checking, two vehicles (JK02AC/8717(Truck) and JK02CA/5032(Tata mobile) were signalled to stop for check- ing. On search, the said vehicles found were loaded with 16 and four bovine animals respectively. Total 20 bovines have been rescued and both the vehicles seized. The driver of the truck managed to flee from the spot taking the advantage of darkness and a suspected bovine smuggler(driver) namely Ravi Kumar son of Shanker Dass resident of Neeli Nallah, Rahembal has been taken into custody. A case vide FIR No. 04/19 &05/19 under section 88RPC, 3 PC Act was registered at Police Station Batote and investigation taken up. Four hurt in mishap STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Four persons were injured in a collision between scooty and car near Sandhwari area of Gahgwal in district Samba. According to a report, the accident took place at Jammu Pathankot National Highway near Sandhwari area of Ghagwal in district Samba, when a Wagon R (DL3CAY- 0590) on way of Kathua, collided with a scooty (JK21E- 5085) coming from opposite direction, as a result four per- sons who were travelling on scooty got critically injured and were shifted to District Hospital Samba for treatment. After first aid, all were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for further treatment. The injured have been identified as Naresh Kumar (27) son of Uttam Chand, Kamal Kumar (27) son of Kishori Lal , Rajinder Upadhaya (25) son of Devi Dayala residents of Ghagwal and Rajesh Kumar (28) son of Ashok Kumar resi- dent of Londi (Hiranagar). Police has taken cognisance in the matter and started investigation. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Reiterating the demand of high level probe in recent CDF scam, former MLA and NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia demanded that corrupt officers and workers who indulged in this loot and plundering of CDF be arrest- ed soon otherwise Panthers Party will agitate strongly. While leading a massive protest in front of DC Office Udhampur, Mankotia alleged that some officers under the eye of district administration are releasing back date CDF letters in order to promote ex MLAs, CDF is the property of general public and missuse of this amount would not be acceptable. He informed that there is no existing MLA in the State after the dissolution of Assembly but in Udhampur ex-MLA with help of some officers are misusing the public money (CDF). Lambasting ex MLA Udhampur Gupta for his complete failure, Mankotia questioned him over CDF loot and his long developmen- tal promises during election campaign also blamed that the amount which has been sanctioned for the develop- ment of Udhampur has col- lapsed due to the failed lead- ership. Mankotia urged Governor for high level probe and also constitute commit- tee in this concern. STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: A Vishal Nagar Kirtan was taken out ahead of 353rd Prakash Utsav of 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji in the bor- der town of Poonch on Friday. The devotees from Krishna Ghati, Dara Dullian, Jhallas, Deghwar and Khari Karmara reached Gurdwara Singh Sabha Poonch in the shape of Jathas from where the main Nagar Kirtan was taken out at 1:00 PM. The Panj Piyaras tradi- tionally attired led the Nagar Kirtan, in which the Holy Guru Granth Sahib was kept in a well decorat- ed vehicle. Number of Raagi Jathas including Bhai Harcharan Singh Khalsa, Bhai Rajinder Singh and Bhai Daljit Singh recited Gurbani Kirtan. The procession comprising thousands of people from all walks of life, stopped at Quila Bazaar where President DGPC Poonch Prof Narinder Singh and Parcharak Ravinder Singh threw light on the life his- tory of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the sacrifices of his family members. They repeated the views of Guru Ji who said that he has strengthened the founda- tion of Khalsa Panth (Akal Purakh Ki Fouj) which will save the humanity and human rights. The next stop of Nagar Kirtan was College Ground where youths displayed the martial art (Gatka). Number of stalls of hot drinks, sweets and other eatables were established. The procession then after passing through Nakhan Wali Road, Parade Ground and Bazaar culminated at Gurdwara Singh Sabha Poonch. Awareness on income tax imparted STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kathua on Friday organised a Training- cum-Awareness programme for farmers on Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers Rights Act (PPV&FRA), 2001. Over 150 farmers attended the programme and shared their experiences on cultiva- tion of traditional varieties. The programme was inau- gurated by Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. Pradeep K. Sharma appreciated the efforts of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kathua for organis- ing the programme with the active participation of farm- ers of far flung areas of Bani Tehsil. Dr. R.K. A booklet on the provisions of PPV&FRA, 2001 was also released on the occasion in Hindi language for distribu- tion to the farmers of the dis- trict. A series of IEC activities including drawing competi- tion, presentation of skits and mimes, expert lectures and a seminar were held during the event. Principal Govt. ITI, Sajjad Ahmad Naqueeb, DySP Hqrs, Govind Rattan, Medical Officer Manjakot, Dr Vikas Sharma, Supervisor ITI Manzoor Hussain, Performer, ROB, Jammu Ram Lal and other staff members were present on the occassion. They said that drug abuse is a curse for the society as it affects the family and social life of the addicted person. He also enlightened the gathering about NDPS Act. They enlightened the stu- dents about ill effects of drug abuse on human body. He said that drugs are harmful to the health when they are used in excess and for a pro- longed period of time. Drug addiction is an addiction if a person consumes it for at least two years regularly and is not able to leave it even if he wishes to. A cultural programme, drawing competition and a seminar were the main attrac- tions of the programme. The students were awarded first, second and third prizes for their participation in drawing competition. The registered troupe of ROB presented theme based folk items to entertain the audience. ROB's awareness campaign concludes ROB officials along with winners during the programme. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Friday chaired a meeting of rev- enue officers and reviewed the progress of scanning of documents, quality check and up gradation of Jamabandies for digitisa- tion of land record under Digital India Land Record Modernisation Programmes (DILRMP). The ACR informed the meeting that 349 manual jamabandies were notified, of which 196 were complet- ed and process for complet- ing the remaining is on. The DDC emphasised on to strictly follow the time- line fixed for the prepara- tion of Jamabandies and scanning of all pending rev- enue records. The concerned were directed to hold weekly and fortnightly meetings to review the progress of preparation of Jamabandies. Bottlenecks in the imple- mentation of Digital India Land Record Modernisation programme were also dis- cussed. The DC directed the Tehsildars to identify the space for setting up Computer Centre/Data Centre /Modern Record Room at Tehsil level and also depute at least one employee to NIC to learn the digitlization and upgra- dation of documents. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Councilor of Ward No 1 Priti Khajuria tak- ing serious cognisance of increasing menace of dumping of garbage directly in Tawi River demanded to change garbage dumping station. Priti raised this issue before President Municipal Committee Udhampur (MCU) Dr. Yojeshwar Gupta on Friday during first meeting of MCU and also submitted a resolution for its early solution too. Appraising the president and house of councilors Priti said that it is a matter of concern that people of the town are being supplied contaminated water since MCU is dumping decaying heaps of garbage and waste directly in the river Tawi which is the only source of drinking water. She alleged that be it MCU, PHE Department or local adminis- tration nobody bothered to shift the dumping station from Tawi. "MCU is bent on dumping garbage at zero Km of city near Jakheni which is very serious issue" Priti mentioned in her resolution adding that people are being forced to drink con- taminated water since every- body especially common person can't afford to purchase RO/UV water filters. She appealed to the all coun- cilors of MCU to come forward and join hands to take the issue to its logical end. STATE TIMES NEWS NOWSHERA: An aware-ness camp-cum-seminar wasorganised at Nowshera onFriday by Income Tax Office,Rajouri as per the directionsof Pr. Commissioner ofIncome Tax, J&K, JammuK.M Bali and Addl.Commissioner of IncomeTax, Range-2, Jammu S KSharma. The camp wasattended by prominent tax-payers including representa-tives of Chamber ofCommerce and other TradeAssociations. Some of theprominent participants wereSubash Kapoor (Chairmanof the Beopar Mandal,Nowshera), the Chairman ofMunicipal Counil Nowsheraand prominent businessmen

of Nowshera DharamvirGupta and Jagdish Sahni.

The event was presidedover by Romesh Sharma,Income Tax Officer, Rajouriand was also attended byRakesh Gupta from IncomeTax Department, Jammu.The speakers of the seminarupdated the knowledge ofmore than 200 participants

who attended the meetingwith latest provisions ofincome tax and also request-ed to spread the messagewith other businessmen forwidening of tax base. Thespeakers of the seminar alsocovered the awareness topicsof widening of tax base, prop-er and timely payment oftaxes along with other relat-

ed topics i.e. filing of returnsof income and governmentinitiatives for development inand around Nowshera area.

At the end of the seminar,an interactive session washeld and various queriesraised by the participantswere resolved by RomeshSharma, Income Tax Officer,Rajouri and other dignitariesto the satisfaction of the par-ticipants.

During the seminar, thedepartment sought coopera-tion from the taxpayers torealise the dream of a corrup-tion free India and alsoreminded the participatingcitizens of their invaluablerole in nation buildingthrough proper and timelypayment of taxes.

STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Krishi VigyanKendra (KVK) Kathua onFriday organised a Training-cum-Awareness programmefor farmers on Protection ofPlant Varieties & FarmersRights Act (PPV&FRA),2001.

Over 150 farmers attendedthe programme and sharedtheir experiences on cultiva-tion of traditional varieties.

The programme was inau-gurated by Vice Chancellor,SKUAST-Jammu, Prof.Pradeep K. Sharma in pres-ence of Director Research, Dr.J.P. Sharma, AssociateDirector Extension & I/cKVKs, Dr. R.K. Arora,Director, Planning &Monitoring, Dr. Deepak Kher,Estates Officer, SunilGandotra, ExecutiveEngineer, Iqbal Singh andDDM NABARD Kathua,Madan Lal.

In his address, Prof.Pradeep K. Sharma briefedthe farmers about the benefitsof PPV&FRA, 2001 for thefarming community. Heacknowledged that farmersare engaged in conserving andimproving age old varieties ofcrops and emphasised uponthe need to make them awareabout the benefits of the Act.Dr. J.P. Kendra, Kathua for organis-ing the programme with theactive participation of farm-ers of far flung areas of BaniTehsil. Dr. R.K. In the interaction session,resource persons responded toqueries of participating farm-ers.

A booklet on the provisionsof PPV&FRA, 2001 was alsoreleased on the occasion inHindi language for distribu-tion to the farmers of the dis-trict. Dr. Pradeep Sharmaalso laid the foundation stonefor establishment of SpawnProduction Laboratory atKVK Kathua.

A series of IEC activitiesincluding drawing competi-tion, presentation of skits andmimes, expert lectures and aseminar were held during theevent.

They said that drug abuse isa curse for the society as itaffects the family and sociallife of the addicted person. Healso enlightened the gatheringabout NDPS Act.

They enlightened the stu-dents about ill effects of drugabuse on human body. Hesaid that drugs are harmfulto the health when they areused in excess and for a pro-longed period of time. Drugaddiction is an addiction if aperson consumes it for atleast two years regularly andis not able to leave it even if hewishes to.

A cultural programme,drawing competition and aseminar were the main attrac-tions of the programme. Thestudents were awarded first,second and third prizes fortheir participation in drawingcompetition. The registeredtroupe of ROB presentedtheme based folk items toentertain the audience.

STATE TIMES NEWSRAJOURI: DeputyCommissioner MohammadAijaz Asad on Fridaychaired a meeting of rev-enue officers and reviewedthe progress of scanning ofdocuments, quality checkand up gradation ofJamabandies for digitisa-tion of land record underDigital India Land RecordModernisation Programmes(DILRMP).

The ACR informed themeeting that 349 manual

jamabandies were notified,of which 196 were complet-ed and process for complet-ing the remaining is on.

The DDC emphasised onto strictly follow the time-line fixed for the prepara-tion of Jamabandies andscanning of all pending rev-enue records.

The concerned weredirected to hold weekly andfortnightly meetings toreview the progress ofpreparation ofJamabandies.

programme were also dis-cussed.

STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Councilor ofWard No 1 Priti Khajuria tak-ing serious cognisance ofincreasing menace of dumpingof garbage directly in TawiRiver demanded to changegarbage dumping station.Priti raised this issue beforePresident MunicipalCommittee Udhampur (MCU)Dr. Yojeshwar Gupta on Fridayduring first meeting of MCUand also submitted a resolutionfor its early solution too.Appraising the president andhouse of councilors Priti saidthat it is a matter of concernthat people of the town arebeing supplied contaminatedwater since MCU is dumpingdecaying heaps of garbage andwaste directly in the river Tawiwhich is the only source of

drinking water. She allegedthat be it MCU, PHEDepartment or local adminis-tration nobody bothered to shiftthe dumping station from Tawi.

"MCU is bent on dumpinggarbage at zero Km of city nearJakheni which is very seriousissue" Priti mentioned in herresolution adding that peopleare being forced to drink con-taminated water since every-body especially common personcan't afford to purchaseRO/UV water filters.

She appealed to the all coun-cilors of MCU to come forwardand join hands to take the issueto its logical end. Priti also sub-mitted a resolution to presidentMCU with deadline of onemonth to get dumping stationshifted from existing place ofTawi River.
