Medicine is a branch of Astrology. In fact, Medical Astrology is the mother of Ayurveda, Indian system of medicine founded by ancient Maharishis.

The elevated area beneath the second phalange of the thumb surrounded by the Line of Life is called the Mount of Venus.

Venus is known as the Goddess of Love and Beauty in Greek mythology.

True to its name, this mount stands for love and also for sympathy and gen-erosity.

Persons having a promi-nent Mount of Venus are Ve-nusians.

Venusians are very healthy and are endowed with an at-tractive and imposing per-sonality. A person without a prominent Mount of Venus is a coward and a weakling. The absence of the Mount shows that the owner leads a life of hardship and misery.

Venusians are brilliant and good looking.

Those of opposite sex would fi nd Venusians en-chanting. A good Head Line and a strong thumb are nec-essary for a Venusian to hold in check his/her inclination to seek sensual pleasures at the expense of self-respect, time and wealth.

A smooth Mount not ex-cessively large indicates that the owner is a lover of fl owers. music, and fi ne arts in general. If the Mount of Moon is equally developed,

In the previous articles in this series, we discussed how a large number having several digits could be reduced to a basic number, the affinity between numbers and how the affinity between two persons or several persons is formed due to the affinity between numbers influenc-ing them.

In this article, we propose to dis-cuss the characteristics attributed to each basic number which invari-ably influence the person who be-longs to that particular basic num-ber. In fact, every event, incident or phenomenon in the universe comes under a basic number and the kind of influence attributed to that num-ber.

However, in the present context, we hope to discuss only the appli-cation of the characteristics attrib-uted to a given basic number to an individual who comes under the in-fluence of that basic number.

Number 1One is a symbol of unity, viril-

ity, masculinity, independence, ego, Sun, pioneering, leadership, pride, fire, gold and father.

Number 1 is the father of all other numbers. It is indivisible; it repre-sents success and power achieved by determination and perseverance.

Therefore, Number 1 people are

ambitious and whichever career they embark on, they would not look back until they reach the apex.

The principal origins of Number 1 are 10, 19 and 28.

According to Pythagoras, Greek philosopher and mathematician, Number 10 is a perfect number, a glyph or symbol of a deity and of the eternity. Number 19 according to him, contains the alpha and ome-ga which implies a great source of strength.

There are both positive and nega-tive qualities associated with Num-ber 1. For instance, it increases selfishness and vanity, weakness and laziness, fear and destructive potential.

When the Sun presiding over the Number 1 person at the time of birth is weak, the native would be indolent.

The Sun ruling over the Number 1 person becomes very strong if his date of birth besides being 1, 10, 19 or 28 becomes a Sunday. The Sun would become further strong if the native is born in the planetary hour of the Sun which means that a Num-ber I person born on a Sunday and in the Sun’s Hora (hour) of the day would be a very energetic and dy-namic person.

The New Moon falling on Thursday February 3 in Sri Lanka’s natal chart’s 12th House which happens to be the cardinal sign Capricorn when the evil planet Mars is already strongly posited there foreshadows a period of un-rest and discontent among the people for the next three months.

Mercury, the lord of the 8th

House of the country’s horo-scope being in conjunct with Mars in the 12th House has further heightened the evil influence of the latter, accord-ing to principles of Mundane Astrology.

The evil influence of Mars is brought to much promi-nence when he occupies the 12th House and what is worse Mars can do much more harm in regard to matters relating to the 3rd and 10th Houses as

well as he is the significator for these houses.

An increase in incidence of crime

The Sun too is in transit in the 12th House and he normally dignifi es the house he occupies. But in this instance he is affl icted and his presence in this house only signifi es disgrace to public offi -cials.

The affl icted 12th House also rules fi nancial loss-es, increased expen-ditures, foreign debt and rioting by people.

Mars in the 12th House foreshadows an increase in the incidence of crime, par-ticularly against women and arson attacks on workplaces and public establishments. Unruly behaviour among the inmates of prisons and hospi-tals is also strongly indicated. The lunation in the 12th House also points to a rise in the lev-el of poverty and much illness and communicable diseases in particular among the people.

Favourable for nation’s wealth

Jupiter strongly posited in the 2nd House of Pisces con-tinues to indicate a period favourable for the nation’s wealth as well as a growth in trade and commerce and banking. However, Uranus in this House points to unfore-seen occurrences in the stock market.

An astrologer recently told me that my son, who is only three years old, is subject to a Balar-ishta-yoga. The astrologer also prescribed certain shanthikarma to destroy the Balarishta-yoga and I had performed them. However, I am still worried over this. I am herewith sending you my son’s horoscope. Please examine it and inform me whether this Balarishta-yoga will befall my son.

Answer: It is correct that your son is subject to Balarish-ta yoga due to Mercury being posited in the Lagna (Cancer) while the Moon is afflicted in the 8th House of the son’s horoscope. However, Rahu in the 11th House receiving the special aspect of Jupiter from the 4th House and the direct aspect of Venus from the 6th
